First and foremost, the attitude of the hostel owner was terribly unfriendly and hostile, even. We stayed for two nights, but the hostel owner sternly refused to provide us a change of towels despite repeated requests. And they only supply us with a big bath towel, no face cloth etc.
When we informed him about the kettle which was not working properly. He deliberately made the comment that the kettle was made in China, and was therefore 'no good', considering the fact that we are visibly Chinese - from Hong Kong. His comment was overtly racist.
The room is not extremely unclean, but we discovered ants near the wall on our first night of stay. There is no supply of bath/shower gel, shampoo whatsoever.
We need to walk around 3 blocks (around 10 min) to an affiliated bar for breakfast, which is quite inconvenient.
The lights on the wall are not working, they do not even attempt to put a light bulb in, but use it as a 'vase' instead, putting fake flowers in them...
The wifi is working, but the password is 24 characters long, which is quite a joke. But we seriously cannot laugh heartily when let down by such a bad residence experience.
Check-out is 10am, which is quite early. And they only allow residents to store their luggage in the corridor (which seems really unsafe as there is no receptionists at the desk for most of the time) until 5 pm - completely no intention to extend it when asked, with no apparent reason.
Every other shortcomings can be forgiven, but the insincere attitude is what makes the most terrible hostel experience ever during our trip in Spain and Italy!
