“in the center of rome, very closed (2min)to bus and metro station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

Casa Di Penelope is very closed to everywhere, you can stay safely,
fontana di trevi is just one station with metro, you can go to spanish steps with metro from the hotel, piazza di venezia is just 3 station with bus,
it's easier to prefer bus in termini, you need roma pass for bus but our roma pass doesn't work on it (noobody realized and warned so we traveled without ticket, our roma pass was useless for us), after 12 pm there isn't any bus or metro so you should take taxi, taxi costs max 15 euro around the city,
you can take citysightseeing tour ticket (20 euro for 2 days) , it's the easiest way for a cultural tour
find Mr.Babu in Penelope, he's very helpful and we were completely happy from the hotel..
Hotel was clean, safe, pretty, silent, comfortable...

“Great for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2011

It is very spartan. WiFi available in the hallways and in some rooms. Quiet street, close to the train station. The cafe voucher was nice.

“not exactly an hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

the so called hotel is an apartment located on the second floor of a condo. There are 5 rooms in the flat that are rented and they all bear the name of the 5 senses (eyes, ears, hands, nose, mouth). There is not a proper reception since the owner (not a local Italian native speaker) shows up only if called on his mobile in advance. You are given three keys: one to main door downstairs, one to the flat's door and one to your room's door.
You'll need to lock the front door whenever you leave the flat.
The room was big and clean and so was the bathroom. The furniture was very basic and the mini fridge wasn't working. No toiletries were provided and only one towel should do for everything..
I was very disappointed with this hotel apart from its amazing location, 5 minutes walk from Termini Station. Breakfast was included in the price but you are given a voucher to get it from a bar nearby and it consists in a croissant and a cappuccino.
The price you pay for that kind of room is too high for what you actually get.
More a B&B than a hotel but the rates are those of a three star hotel

“DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

We had booked one night in this 'hotel' and when we eventually found it we were ushered through two security, prison like gates (not shown in any of the pictures) up a dodgy flight of stairs and into a toilet cubicle sized reception area filled with clutter and cleaning equipment. It was 5pm and the cleaner was still cleaning. The man who showed us into our room was VERY scary, spoke no English and was intimidating. The man at reception was also rude, intimidating, scary and not interested at all in anything else but his 90 Euros. We saw the room which looked NOTHING like the pictures on the site, dirty, tiny and as we went in, a vinyl fold out was being dragged out of the room. we were not spending the night here as we felt very unsafe. we declined the stay and the staff got very aggressive and agitated. The front door was locked and had no handles which again seemed very scary. We have stayed in some bad parts of Asia and third world countries and I have never in my life wanted to leave a place as quickly as this. We faked a phone call in the hallway to get the door opened and did a runner. I swear we would have woken up with only one kidney and our passports gone.
Sleeping at termini would be a better option. The area is horrible and dirty - the slummy side of Rome. May be cheap but is it worth a sleepless night? RUN AWAY!

“Nice decoration , disobliging manner.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

Excellent location, quite clean, nice decoration but the good things end here. Very noisy (especially the rooms located in the first floor near the reception) and don't look for hot water after 09:00 am due the excess use in the building. The staff is the most unpleasant I ever met in my life. Especially the one of them (I don't remember their names) had an aggresive and disobliging manner. Also, during our stay they change us room without any good excuse. They don't accept credit cards. I don't recommend anybody to stay there mainly for their behaviour.
