“Perfect for a weekend stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

A group of 5 friends stayed in the Mecenate Rooms for a long weekend and have to stay it was well worth it. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable even for 5 girls and it was great that we were next door to each other. The accommodation is ideally situated for visiting Rome - its a casual stroll through the park, the Coliseum is facing you and then the trains and tourist bus are at the end of the park perfect for commuting around Rome - we even used the tourist bus for our taxi at night time when heading out. The staff were extremely helpful for the duration of the visit. Breakfast is provided in the small restaurant in the park, its perfect for whats needed. This was a perfect stay for a briliiant weekend - 3 years of we're still laughing about it.

“Eclectic and charming rooms and helpful service!”

The rooms were spacious (compared to other hotels I've stayed while in Italy) and very affordable. They were decorated with unique, modern, and eclectic furniture and artwork, which I loved. I stayed at the Giovenale Room and really appreciated the exposed brick on the ceiling. The location was excellent as it was only less than a 10 minute walk to the colosseum and the metro. And the owner was so warm, friendly, and helpful! She let us print all of our museum passes using her computer, gave us a map and provided us with directions. Will definitely stay here again when in Rome!

“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We stayed at Mecenate Rooms for 5 nights at the end of October. The room was comfortable, the owners were very helpful and the location was excellent. We will not hesitate to go back again. Handy for the metro and bus routes that take you to Trastevere and Villa Borghese. 15 minutes walk from Termini and one minute from the Colosseum. The breakfast was basic but was fine, however if you love your breakfasts then use a hotel. The recommended restaurant that we used on the first night was superb value for money. The front door key was being changed on the day we left but we didn't find it difficult anyway. The bathroom (Virgilio room) is being re-done but wasn't a problem and there was plenty of hot water. For a central city location we found it pretty quiet. I used earplugs just in case but my husband wasn't bothered by any noise. The free wireless was very useful and the owners, though not on site, check their emails all the time so any queries are quickly answered. They were extremely helpful when we were trying to get tickets for a concert during our stay. The room was very good value for money and we are looking forward to our return visit already!

“Great place for Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Pros:
- great location. you will most likely be in rome for at least 2 days -- great location is most important for these longer visits. rome is big and will want a break in the middle of your day or before dinner -- this location is great for that
- the room is new/modern and spacious --- nice floor, super high ceilings, nice bathroom fixtures -- a really nice room to have in italy especially for rome
- great price
- camilla(who speaks english) was very kind and helpful with questions

Cons:
- yes. you've heard it before, noise can be an issue. however, the street is not a popular street and it is generally quiet. if you want a nap during the day, this place is not for you. but after 9-10pm vehicles come through infrequently and so you won't hear much. my wife is a light sleeper and she did fine(she was also exhausted from the day though hah) our two nights
- breakfast is just a croissant and choice of hot beverage(just a tip, when you give the guy your breakfast voucher, he won't prompt you with your choices -- just point to a croissant
- i think there is like a 30-40 minute limit on hot water then it gets cold

- all in all, i wanted an affordable nice room that was close to main attractions and this was it. i would definitely come back here if i'm ever back in rome

tip: don't take taxi here from train station -- it'll cost ~17 euros. take the metro(should be within the train station) and exit vittoria emmanuale(or something like that) and then the place is a 5 minute walk straight down the street. verify these directions though cause this is off the top of my head

“Good location and spacious room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

Mecenate Rooms is well situated, with the Metro station and many good restaurants located very close by. Colesseum and Roman forum is less than 5 minutes walk. The room is clean but a bit noisy as it is close to road. The owners were really helpful, helping me with the taxi pick up from the airport. The only complaint I have is that the main door was very difficult to open (hopefully they'll do something about it!!) and the breakfast is very limited.
