“Reservations may not be honored.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Two days before we arrived from Florence, I e-mailed Kinga, the manager (possibly owner) of Navona Nice Room, to confirm our reservations. I received a reply confirming our reservation for two rooms starting Sept. 22, 2011.

We arrived at Navona Nice Room on September 22. I was greeted by the nice young man who cleans the rooms and deals with the guests. He told me that they had one of our rooms ready, but that the other room for my 79-year-old father, was not available. He said that my father would be placed for one night at "Surprising In Rome", another of their B&Bs a few blocks away.

I told the young man that this was not acceptable. I had a reservation for two rooms that Kinga had confirmed by e-mail just two days before. The young man called Kinga and put me on the phone with her. Kinga told me that my father's room was not available because the couple staying there now wanted to stay an extra night. I told her "then move that couple to "Surprising in Rome". She told me she would not move them since they were elderly. I told her that my father was elderly as well, and was nervous not staying with us for the night. We went back and forth, arguing, and finally she put her husband on the phone. He told me that there was nothing they could do. I threatened to call Venere.com to complain. He said "Go ahead, I don't care." He kept saying "This is not a tragedy." I agreed this was not a "tragedy", but that a commitment is a commitment and our reservation should be honored as promised. Clearly, they had a chance to make an extra 100 euro from the other couple, so they let them stay, not caring if we were inconvenienced.

Realizing we had no recourse, especially since we were on the phone in a foreign country and I didn't know where he or Kinga were, I agreed to take the room in the other Bed and Breakfast for the night. (I let my father take that room because the elevator worked at the other B&B, and our elevator at Navona Nice Room was out of service.) We paid for our rooms and that was it.

The next day, we moved my father into Navona Nice Room. The rest of the stay was pleasant, we never heard from Kinga or her husband again except an email to tell us that the toilet seat would be fixed as I requested (it never was). The accomodations were fine, but unfortunately, I can never recommend Navona Nice Room to anyone since they won't honor a reservation as promised.

The funny thing was, I was contacted by the booker, Venere.com to rate my stay at Navona Nice Room. I was unable to log in using the link they provided, so I logged into Venere.com from my browser. Then I found out why the link didn't work: next to our reservation at N.N.R. were the words NO SHOW. Rather than risk a bad review through Venere, Kinga told them we never showed up! So I emailed Venere the above story, AND sent them photos of us in both of our rooms to prove that we did indeed show up, and stayed the full five days.

“BE CAREFULL WITH THIS HOTEL”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

This hotel is well situated and except for the walls is clean. However, there are problems with it. It is like an apartment with 4 rooms, so can really hear everything. Bathrooms are outside room, breakfast is included, but is horrible. However, the worst part is that out of the 4 rooms, 3 of them are very spacious, and one of them, which should have been like a den or reception area instead, is rented as a room too for the SAME PRICE. When we arrive to the place, we left the bigger room to our friends and we stayed in the half room in disadvantage. When I questioned this discrepancy to the person in charge, she ignored me and never even considered the fact that it is unfair to charge the same for rooms that are so different in size. Therefore, she never adjusted the rate. I am talking about 1/3 of the other room. So if you are going to this apartment, don't expect at lot, and make sure you are not reap off with THE SMALL ROOM.

“College Dorm...not B&B”

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor we thought it would be exactly what we were searching for. The location was really wonderful--and that's about it. It was operated by a voice mail only serviced by non English speaking staff. The breakfast was pre-packaged from a convenience store. We were shown to a room with a bunk bed. Bathroom was down the hall and we needed a key for it. There wasn't even a light to read by in the evening. The price was equivalent to a real hotel- and truly NOT worth it.

“Amazing Location! Clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

The rooms themselves were very clean and updated. They had flat screen televisions and a/c. The room was very clean, and had a cute little balcony(no view). It came with a separate bathroom that was large for European standards, and was also very clean. The service was very difficult. If you get picked up at the air port (which we did) they meet you there, drive you, then check you in. Then just leave and are never around. The person who does breakfast and cleaning is around all morning, but doesn't really speak any English and doesn't really help you at all. Also, we were never told a check out time, so when we got back to our room at 12 the afternoon we were checking out stuff had been put in the hall and another guest had already checked in. Not really a huge deal, we should have figured. Breakfast was typical italian. There is an elevator but it is really slow so only expect to want to take it when you have your luggage, otherwise take the three flights of stairs.
The location is what made this place so incredible. You walk out the front door and your in a nice piazza with great restaurants, then walk 10 minutes one direction and your at the Vatican. 5 minutes the other direction and your at the pantheon and piazza Nuvona. 15 minutes from the hotel walking you can reach every other destination, Colosseum, the Capital, Trivee Fountian, Spanish Steps. Everything is right there. If you don't feel like walking or need to go to the termini, the bus stops right outside the hotel. Amazing location and couldn't have been more pleased with it.
The only real issue was the electricity. The circuits blew often, and one night we had no electricity at all until morning. It was frustrating. It wasn't just us or anything. They would blow when we were eating breakfast in the morning. It was just their electricity that wasn't great. Not a huge issue though.
Overall great stay, and incredible location.

“I will avoid it in the future”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2009

A once beautiful apartment in the center of Rome has been divided by light wooden walls with the sole apparent aim to increase revenue. The walls are so thin that we heard everything that happened in the neighboring rooms (even a guy snoring). The bathroom was outside the room, and the shower didn't work, so they gave us another bathroom. Despite several requests we could not obtain a receipt. Apart from that, the staff was very helpful. I will avoid this place in the future at all costs.
