My wife and I stayed here for one night on September 5th, 2011. After renting a car at the airport and some difficult navigation through the streets of Rome we found the place without too much trouble.

There wasn't anyone immediately available, but after my wife had a look around while I went to park someone was out to help us fairly promptly. I think the important thing is to make sure they know what time you are arriving so that they are on-site.

Managed to park right outside the building for almost two full days and paid less than 10 euros for it. Bargain!

We were greeted by Mario who spoke limited English but was able to get us checked in and show us the room without any trouble. Even with the language barrier you could tell he was very passionate about his city and was a very warm and welcoming host. He instructed us to make sure we walk everywhere so as not to miss a thing - advice we gladly took.

The room was very modern and exceptionally clean and tidy. We had no problems using the WiFi internet. The blinds in the room did an amazing job of keeping the light out, so much so that when we woke up in the morning we weren't sure that it was really 8am given it was still pitch black in our room. Hardly spent much time in the room at all, but for what we did we were really impressed.

Breakfast was more than enough for us: Fresh croissants, selection of Italian cold cuts, cake, cappuccino. Plenty to give the morning a kick-start.

The location was incredible being just a few minutes walk from The Vatican. We also walked from the B&B to the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain, and down to the Colloseum and it wasn't a problem for us. There was always something new and interesting to see every 5 minutes or so and it felt like we were just bouncing from one tourist attraction to the next.

Overall I would highly recommend this B&B. If you are the kind of travellers that like to have someone available 24 hours a day then you'll want to look at a full-service hotel and not this place. If you're a little more independent then I think Sotto il Sole di Roma is the place to be. My wife and I will stay here again without question and enjoyed the modern rooms and friendly staff.

We stayed here in Sept 2010 and loved it. Fantastic rooms in a great location with a really warm welcome from Raul. When I planned a surprise trip to Rome for my parents in Sept 2011 I knew exactly where to book. Raul organised airport transfers and took great care of my parents. You won't be dissappointed at Sotto il Sole di Roma!

We stayed here recently and loved it. The apartment was everything we could ask for, a great location in a charming old building and very clean. We were greeted by Raul, who was friendly and welcoming. It is true he is not there a lot of the time, but that was not a problem for us. The only improvement I would suggest for the hotel is having phones in the room, because our cell phones did not work out of the country.

We loved this little guesthouse the rooms are small but clean. It's right by Vatican and the breakfast in the morn is great!!
