“HORRIBLE SERVICE”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

The place was nice, very comfortable and with a great breakfast. Still it's not easy to reach the hostel by metro, you need to take the bus and it can be tricky to get there. Also the service was not good, we needed to leave our bags for a couple of hours, we waited half an hour for someone to help us at the front desk, and when he woke up he told us that we couldn't leave our bags... and that was a service that the hostel was offering.

We actually never saw anyone at the front desk, except for when they had to charge us...

Also there was a kitchen, and guests had absolutely forbidden to cook...

“Okay for a stay in Rome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

I stayed in this B&B for 4 nights with a friend. Our rome was big enough, one big closet and double bed and one single bed (we didn't use the single bed). Good bed, we got 2 towels, one small one and one big one. For me, this was enough for 4 nights. In our bathroom, we had a bath, but we only used the shower. It was a pity that we had to held the shower the whole time we were using the shower. You could not hang the shower on the wall or something like this. The water was just fine (warm). The breakfast is really nothing. You get a few very small bread and you could get a crackers but it wasn't much at all. There was also some yoghurt and some cereal but very little to put on your bread. I think the breakfast could be much, much better!! For sleeping, this is a really good place and very central. In the beginning, we couldn't find the street but eventually it isn't hard to find at all. We arrived at Fiumicino airport. We got the train to Trastevere, from there, we had to take the train to Roma S. Pietro station. When you get out of the station (central exit) you go to the left and you walk down the hill. At the end of the street you turn left, walk under the bridge, and then straight ahead. At one point on your left, you'll find a show for baby's clothing and something like a bank (BPM, green with white letters). There, you turn to the left... and you walk al the way through untill you see the sign of a supermarket (Euro Spin). Then, St. Peter's Vacancy is a few houses further and you'll find it on your left, you have to go of a stair at nr. 183). Good luck!
(WIFI is free in the B&B)

“Good but could be better”

My boyfriend and I paid 267 euro through venere.com for a 3 night stay. There was a problem with the B&B processing payment after I'd paid online and the only way to resolve it was to call the owners on an Italian mobile, which wasn't ideal.

The B&B is less than a 10 minutes walk from St Pietro station and if you're flying in to Fiumincio airport, the most direct route is the Fara Sabina train to Trastavere and then a train to St Pietro. The directions on the website take you via Termini but we were directed the other way by the ticket office at the airport station. We found the B&B really hard to find so my recommendation would be to leave the station via the steps at the end of the platforms, signposted Uscita Via Gregorio VII. Head down the hill to the main road and then turn left and left again onto Via della Cava Aurelia. Or do what we did and get directed to the door by a lovely Italian local!

The Vatican is a 15 minute walk and there's a bus route into the city on the main road. The buses are a little temperamental but just jump on one if it looks like it's going into the centre! And buy your tickets in the local tabachis.

We had booked a room with a private bathroom - this turned out not to be en suite but a room down the corridor. This wasn't a problem until several people used our bathroom when all our stuff was in there and there was someone else's hairs all over the floor and in the shower plug!

The breakfast is fine although the sign saying to only eat your own portion made us a bit nervous! The owners speak good English and are helpful if not over friendly.

For the cost and fairly central location, I would recommend this B&B.

“Spotlessly clean very convient locatoin”

My husband and I and a friend stayed at the St. Peter's Vacancy recently for two nights. We had a little missunderstanding with our arrival time. When we arrived there was no answer at the door. The lady from a shop in the building kindly helped us locate the manger.
When we made our booking we were under the impression that this establishment was an entire building! The St Peter's vacancy is actually a single appartment with four rooms and a bathroom allocated to each room. The room are spacious and spotlessly clean. We found the manager charming and he speaks good English. The kitchen is available for making tea or coffee and one can use the fridge to store basics and the microwave to warm up a meal. They do request that you don't cook in the kitchen. The breakfast was adequate and fresh. The location is superb and in walking distance from the Vatican. You can catch a bus 571 from two roads away which takes you to the Colloseum and various other tourist attractions. You will need to get a bus ticket at a magazine or newspaper stand a little way along the main road. This costs 4 Euro for a day bus pass. (About a 15minute bus ride) We found a stunning little restuarant just down the road where we sampled local Italian food. For the three of us we paid 37 Euro's including a litre of house wine! The supermarket next to the appartment is very convient. My only complaint was that the toilet although spoitlessly clean was missing a seat! We had a very pleasant stay.

“Great place in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2009

St. Peter' s Vacancy is the place to stay while you are in Rome. Close to St. Peter's Cathedral (about 500m walk) , the B&B is located in a very nice (noise free) and very safe residential area. It is close to almost everything one might need - attractions, public transportation (bus station - 100-150m away), stores (next door building a small supermarket, 100-150m walk to an open market with fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, hams, breads, etc.), restaurants (100m). For families with children, a small, gated park is located right across the street (nice wooded park). The accommodations are great - spacious bedrooms with beautiful (and efficient) appointed furniture, very nice, clean and efficient bathrooms. We were assigned 2 of the bathrooms (we booked 3 of the rooms) - hot water and water pressure worked perfectly. The common family room is spacious and the air conditioning worked perfectly during the hot July weather (the same in the bedrooms). Internet was available for free during the entire stay. We ended up being mostly by ourselves during the whole time. We were allowed to use the refrigerator to store drinks, fruits and some snacks. The breakfast was plentiful - on the sweet side but this is common in Rome and in Italy. With the market close by one can choose anything they want at a very low cost. Either Danilo, Giuseppe, or Giovani were present most of the time but they were very discreet and very helpful (with directions, information, etc.). We had their cell phone numbers in case we needed anything while we/they were away. They also provided us with discount cards at one of the restaurants close by. I sincerely hope the place will be open at my next visit in Rome because it is one of the best places I stayed - I felt like I was at home. Danilo and Giuseppe - Thank you very much from all of us for a great stay!
