“Very Good value for price paid. - Good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Hotel is just a few steps from the river, and a 10 or 15 minute leisurely walk to Piazaa Spagana and Piazza del popolo.
Rooms where clean with AC.
Staff was helpful and friendly at all times.
Enjoyed being close to touristy places but at the same time have the opportunity to go to the bars and restaurants that some locals go to.
Near to the hotel there are bars where you can eat and drink for a less than half than the tourist places and also enjoy better attention.

“so disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

My friend and I arrived after getting lost to find door locked. Managed to dash in when other tenant arrived. Ricardo arrived after 30 mins after waiter from restaurant called him.Room was clean but very basic, worn towels and bedding. Noise from traffic outside. The worst of all was the breakfast- cold scrambled egg and sausages. No toaster or cold milk for cereal of which there was a choise of two. No breakfast on last day.Cups were chipped and cracked. Location was good, near to all the sights. Just a very low standard.

“GREAT LOCATION - BUT DIDN@T LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

My girlfriend treated me to a week in Rome for my birthday and booked the B&B St Angelo based on the write up's it had been given about a helpful host and the wonderful breakfast provided.

Like the lady from South America who was there at the same time as us we were left standing on the doorstep outside a locked door even though we had advised of our time of arrival - we got lucky when an Irish Priest who spoke fluent Italian was leaving the building and took pity on us in our hour of need and helped us contact the owner by telephone - The owner arrived 40 minutes later and we were shown in to a clean room that had the bathroom next door for our sole use.

The room had no remote controls for the air conditioning that was positioned too high to reach - The sheets on the bed were clean but well worn and were only changed once (the day before we left) during our stay as were the towels left with us.

The small television attached to the wall had no ariel or power lead so we were unable to watch any of the world cup games in the room.

There is no internet available as a previous visitor has confirmed.

Speaking to the owner on arrival he works late into the night in a couple of bars and the breakfast arrangements are now in the hands of a pleasant enough lady who served a breakfast of cold scrambled eggs - cold baby sausages - bread - cream cheese triangles - fruit juice - tea or coffee and some crisp breads not at al appetising and I don't think I was too disappointed, despite having paid for "wonderful breakfasts" when she only turned up on two of the mornings.

TAKE EARPLUGS - The noise is unbelievable and it goes on all night from the traffic and the bars down by the river opposite.

The B&B is well overpriced - but then so is everything in Rome.

The owner is unable to accept credit cards in payment due to not having a telephone connection for his credit card machine so check it's working if you book or take cash.

Having been made to wait (with no breakfast) for 2 hours before the owner turned up for payment on the day we left The conversation between the he and I became overheated with the owner trying to blame me for not telling him what was wrong with the room and me advising him he should ensure the room is fit for purpose before guests arrive.

My girlfriend stayed calm throughout and when I left to cool down negotiated the price of our stay down to an acceptable figure.

Finally let me say if you just want somewhere to stay that is 15 minutes walking distance to every tourist location with the bus stop outside and you don't expect anything other than spartan surroundings you could do a lot worse.but remember the earplugs.

“Cancelled my reservation without explanation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

I booked this B&B in April for a trip this August. TWO MONTHS after it was booked AND CONFIRMED by the B&B, they cancelled my reservation without warning or explanation.

When I called Venere.com (through whom I had booked this) to ask what was going on, they contacted the B&B, who told Venere they had no rooms available because they were undergoing renovation. The B&B did not respond to any of my emails at all. There was no explanation as to why they had waited two months for this, no apology, and no offer to re-book me. I had to find another hotel, and since it was two months closer to the date of my trip I had much less choice of accomodation and had to pay more.

This may be a lovely place to stay, but I wouldn't give them my business.

“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

The Sant Angelo was awesome. The room was cozy and clean. We had a nice prvt bathroom and quiet to sleep. The building was safe and secure. The host(Ricardo) cared about our every need.If we needed something he tried to accomodate. The host made a plentiful breakfast every morning....wonderful.My daughter and I enjoyed the Sant Angelo immensely. Then of course there was location.Located minutes from the Vatican and right across the street from Sant Angelo Castle. There was tons of sight seeing from this location. We walked everywhere and used the hotel as a center point. We even were able to venture out at night for ice cream and a lil walk in the night.I would recommend this to anyone looking for comfort and location.Don't waste your time with the bigger and further hotels stay in the real Rome. You will not be disappointed. We loved our week in Italy. When you have questions, don't be afraid to ask the host.
