“Would prefer to find another hotel with the same price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

I booked this hotel over Expedia and somehow was really happy reading all the good comments from others. But finally it's hard to say that we satisfied with the quality. It seems to be worth it with the money that you pay for staying there, but I must say I would rather stay in another hotel with the same price.
We were arrived to Rome around lunch time and came directly to the hotel to take a shower cause it was hot that day. Just when we were taking the shower, they knocked on the door and asked for 2 guys to come in and repair the air conditioning. That the first thing that made us not happy.
Second thing was that they gave us a telephone number to call in case of emergency after 10PM (they are not there after 10PM). The first night we felt really needed to ask about some things and I tried to call them on that number but I couldn't reach them. So it stands there for nothing.
It is said that the hotel has luxury rooms and yes, it seems to be luxury at the first sight. But if you go into details, there are certain things that don't work so well like the shower, the TV or the pillow. Let's say the bed was good but the pillows were a bit too high and we couldn't sleep with that.
When we were arrived there was a family there and they discussed about moving us or them to the other building. Finally we didn't have to move to the other place, but we got a 4-people room (which is not necessary) and had to move to another room the last night. That's why we forgot something there and since it's quite meaningful for us, we tried to contact them and asked them to send it back to our address. But we haven't heard anything from them anymore.

“I really want to like this hotel...”

I really want to like this hotel because the staff are really helpful and great, the surrounding neighborhood is an eclectic mix of local romano shops and other more ethnic restaurants, and it's nice and quiet. The room was big for roman standards and clean and very well maintained. Note, this might be an isolated incident, but our room had a heater problem. The hot water works fine during the day, but probably because of the increased usage at night, the water was hot for a few minutes and became cold. Also, the blackout shades were old, and missing several rungs, hence defeating it's purpose. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel.

“We loved it and would go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

Capitolium is in an excellent location! Walk out your door early morning and there is a street bazaar every day but Sun. It's close to the Metro and buses as well.
Our room was clean and the hotel is very European! The staff was very helpful and we would definitely return.

“Comfortable and affordable boutique hotel”

The hotel is approximately 10 minutes walk from Roma Termini. I had a room facing the back garden which was very nice and quiet. The rooms were very well kept and offered spacious room for Italian standards. The room was clean and I found the soft, red carpet very comfortable to walk on. The queen bed was essentially two twins combined together. I had no trouble sleeping soundly. The mini bar offered reasonable priced drinks but you can easily walk down the street on Via Montebello for a light snake or drink. This was my first time to Roma. I had a late train from Napoli and arrive at Roma Termini at 12 midnight. To my surprise, Rome is very safe to walk even at midnight…unlike Napoli.

Now for the negative aspects of my review. If you’re traveling with many or large luggage, it will be a total workout. The steps are not bad, but getting you and your luggage inside the dinky elevator required a lot of patience and strength if you had large luggage…and perhaps multiple attempts. The reception is open 7am (or 8am) to 10pm. When I arrived at the hotel at midnight, the owner of the hotel had to buzz me in. There were no bell men or service after the closing hour. I had to catch a train at 6:45am and I just left the key at the front desk.

If you’re a light traveler this is a great hotel for you.
