“Great hosts / quaint location / local vibe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

This was a fabulous place to stay...
It's a one bedroom apartment complete with all you need (kitchen, bath, bed, couch, desk, chair, tv - you get the idea) and a huge patio. It's close to the downtown area of Rome without being among tourist all the time (which of course we were)...
The hosts speak English and are very sweet. There is a grocery store, a bank, a pastry shop and a bar all close by.
We highly recommend this rental.

“Fabulous place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2010

Fabulous place to stay. We absolutely loved it! We arrive late driving from Venice and had arrange for Daniela to make dinner for us. Food was excellent and presentation was elegant. Kitchen was stocked for us to make our own breakfast…more than we could eat. Balcony was huge-like another room and you can’t beat the view over the north Rome suburbs. Daniela and Dino are the most accommodating hosts. Apartment was full of tourist books and information. We had internet for our computer and Dino printed out our tickets for the Vatican for us. If every place we stayed was like this we would have been in heaven. We will be back guys!

“Great apartment - fantastic hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

My wife and I stayed at Chez Gabrielle for a week in the middle of a four month trip to Europe.

Everyone seeks something unique or different when they travel. What we seek when we travel is an authentic experience - that is living the way the locals do - shopping for the day's necessities, cooking and eating at home, going to local restaurants, drinking the wine of the region, travelling by public transport and discussing the issues of the day to appreciate the local context and perspective. For this reason, when travelling for leisure, we choose to stay in proper fully-equipped apartments - such as Chez Gabrielle - not in B&Bs or hotels.

Chez Gabrielle exceeded our expectations in every respect. Located in the Labaro district, part suburban, part rural, on the northern outskirts of Rome, Chez Gabrielle is a real apartment. It is on the 7th floor of a modern apartment building among other similar apartment buildings. A supermarket is only five minutes walk away as is the local weekly street market, bar and pizza shop. From the balcony of the apartment one can view hills on the northern perimeter of Rome, new apartment blocks under construction in adjacent sub-divisions, boys playing soccer, planes approaching the airport many kilometres away, and people travelling to work by car or by bus. Even the odd rooster can still be heard in the early hours of the morning. As another reviewer has commented it is a great place to relax at the end of the day. The apartment is spotless, attractive and ideally suited to a couple. Breakfast supplies are provided and there are laundry facilities - just what every traveller needs.

The hosts Dino and Daniela (and their two young boys) live in a similar apartment next door. It is wonderful to be met by Dino at the airport upon arrival and he and Daniela are always available if you need assistance or advice. They will prepare a fantastic home cooked meal for you if requested. They are very open people and enjoy discussing issues pertaining to life in Italy and life generally. They are truly wonderful hosts as others on Trip Advisor have attested to. For us this had added significance. I unfortunately broke my ankle in France six weeks before and needed a plaster cast. Dino not only organised medical appointments and drove us twice to a regional hospital but also made sure we understood the billing arrangements and interpreted for us during medical consultations. This was an enormous relief as neither of us speak Italian. Dino also drove us to pharmacies, banks and to the local rail station to make things easier for us.

Dino and Daniela and their boys welcomed us into their lives. We hope we can repay their hospitality if ever they visit Australia in the future.

“Second Stay at Chez Gabrielle - as perfect as the first time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

This was our 2nd stay at Chez Gabrielle. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The perfect place for the perfect vacation. Great location, clean and comfortable. Would never stay anywhere else.

Thank you Dino and Daniela, you are the best.

“An ideal apartment for your travel to Rome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

This was our first visit to Rome as a family and Daniela & Dino made our stay memorable.
Traveling alone with two young children, this apartment became our home away from home. After a long day touring beautiful Rome, it was nice to get back to this spacious apartment and recuperate. It was very clean and was well stocked with all the essentials. The AC was much appreciated especially during HOT August climate. However, breakfast on the terrace was a joy.

The location is ideally situate for using Rome's public transit system. which we did even though we had a car. Driving to the closest train station in a matter of minutes was effortless thank's to Dino's instructions. Unfortunately the closest restaurant was closed for the holiday period, however there are a few excellent ones a very short drive away.

Like the other posts, I highly recommend having a taste of Daniela's cooking. We surely enjoyed the simple but excellent pasta dish she prepared for us on a moments notice.

Grazie mille Daniela e Dino for everything! We will definitely return for a longer stay.
