“Villa Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We spent 3 Nights including new year,s eve at Villa Rome and really enjoyed it. Paolo and Isabella made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Although it is a little way out of the center of Rome the trains run every 15mins.and cost one euro per trip. No, its not 5 star but nor are the prices. The local people in the little shops and Bar on the corner were all very friendly and even came out to say goodbye to us when we left. It was our first trip to Rome and took children and grand children with us, we all really enjoyed it and would go back again. Would I stay at Villa Rome again? Yes, Most Definately.

“Rustic, Good Price and Fabulous Hosts”

Very helpful and friendly hosts, Paolo and Isobella, nothing is too much for their guests. Room was clean and considering ours was close to road, quiet. Garden to sit in and breakfast room open and airy. Help yourself style and if you want bacon/eggs you just need to ask cooking area available. We didnt use this. Train service from Rome (good 45 min). Best to catch tube to Valle Aurellia then go to train station (not far, few minutes, and sign posted) catch train to Octavia. When you get off train turn out on exit same side as train direction, cross zebra crossing and walk straight down the road the crossing takes you to. Only 80 metres and then cross another zebra crossing. Villa Roma has gate entry just a few steps along the wall....it will be clear when you get there. Dont try to catch to Rome before 9 am due to congestion. One Euro gets you 75 min travel pass on bus, train and metro. Four Euros gives unlimited travel for day in Rome area, and Eleven gives three day pass. Dont forget to validate on yellow machines at station before getting on at start. Didnt use the small pool but i would think this, the garden and casual dining would attract families. As it is in the heart of suburbia this Villa gives a good feel of how modern Rome citizens live. Few good restuarants within walking distance.

Room Tip: Book early.

“A View of Rome from the Suburbs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2011

Pleasant B&B run by a nice family on the northern outskirts of Rome. Staying at the Villa Rome offers an interesting glimpse of living in suburban Rome. Rooms are all detached from each other and they reminded me somewhat of in-law apartments. Very pleasant large common area that serves as the breakfast room and also includes a kitchen where one can prepare their own meal if desired. House grounds are well-kept and there is a pool that guests can use. Would be nice to relax outside on a summer evening but the mid-March weather was not conducive to a swim! Getting to the city is not an issue but one would probably only want to make the trip once per day. Villa Rome is perhaps a two minute walk from the Ottavia Station on the FM3 suburban train line which takes you direct to the Vatican (San Pietro), connects with the Metro (Valle Aurelia) or directly to to the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. Trains are frequent throughout the day, roughly every fifteen minutes until after the evening rush hour. The 907 bus is probably a better option for returning in the evening after 9:00, It leaves from the Cipro Metro station and stops on Via Trionfale in front of the Ottavia train station. There is also an overnight bus (N6) that plies a similar route. A very enjoyable stay with the only negative being that the WiFi signal needs to be stronger (probably needs a router added in the breakfast room).

“Well located, good price and pleasant family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2011

Admittedly, the hotel is quite outside from the center of Rome and must be a pain to get there by taxi and busses, as the latter are indeed not very reliable. However, there is a train station very close to the hotel, via which it's very simple and cheap to get to the center.
The price of the triple room was very reasonable and actually lower than expected. The breakfast room as well as a little kitchen was accessible 24/7. So you could always have a tea during the day. The breakfast itself wasn't of high quality, e.g. there wasn't any sausage (but that's just the German in me speaking;), but satisfactory.
The atmosphere was nice and the family/staff very helpful and pleasant. Basic conversation in English was absolutely possible.
If you plan to spend most of the time downtown of Rome and not have to go back to the hotel several times during the day, Villa Rome is a very good option to consider.

“I enjoyed my stay at B&B Villa Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2010

The house is located at a distance of one minute walk from the railroad-metropolitan station Ottavia, and it is quiet because is protected from the street noise with a brick wall. There is an open water pool for guests.
The food was much better than I had at other B&B places, it included a big variety of ripe fruits - it was November; the guests are allowed to use the kitchen with a gas stove, many pans, dishes, spices, cooking oil.
The hosts were very friendly, were always ready to help, even they made phone calls because I do not speak Italian. They even allowed to use their computer to check and send E-mail. Later I discovered that across the street from their house you can use Internet, telephone and even Skype at a very low price of less than a euro for half an hour - the cheapest service that I found in Rome, and I did not find Skype available at other places.
