“Comfort with IKEA furniture”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

The location of the hotel next to the Vatican and a Metro station are excellent and the staff is very helpful.
This is not really a hotel, more like apartments since the front desk is not available 24h and you have to open and shout 3 doors plus your room door to get in and out. The rooms are not too small and bright, but very clairaudient, you can hear noise from the corridor as well as from the streets.
Cheap IKEA furniture and poor quality beds do not really cope with the name "comfort suites".
The "breakfast" is very poor - you just get a voucher for a café next door worth a cappuccino + croissant, any changes like tea cost extra.
Since one can find a proper 4* hotel in Rome for the same price, I would not recommend this "hotel".

“Very good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2010

The Hotel was very nice, with very good connections with the Metro,Tram and Busses. Its about 3-4 minutes from the Vatican. The Staff was great, helpfull and always with a smile ! The Rooms where comfortable, big and clean. They offer free Coffee, Tea and Croisants inside the Room. Also outside the Rooms, there is an special coffee machine where you can have a very cheap coffee. The hotel is inside an building and ist very charming to use the old elevator or the stairs, we like it very much! Around the streets there are many shops and of course food. The best pizza was at the Restaurant "Raf", .about 10 minutes from there, you have to try it! Also a very good restaurant was zigateana at via cola di rienzo 263. For Ice cream , my favorit was exactly across the street at Ice Blue! So back to the Hotel, the Bathroom was big and clean, with hot water always, they had everyday soaps, shampoo/shower gel and body lotion there.
The owner-Leonardo- offers a very good service, for 35 euros you can get a shuttle service from the airport, also for another 35 back to the airport. Its a very good service because if you take the train from the airport you have to pay per person 14 euros for the train and 1 euro for the metro, so if you are 2 persons its 30 Euros + the trouble by moving with the train. If you stay longer then 4-5 days, take an weekly card for the metro, so you dont have to buy always tickets. WIFI was working very well and very fast!!!

As some others here, ok the breakfast was just an Croisant with an coffee, they give as some coupons for everyday, for 2 shops almost next to the building. So if you are a "breakfast fan" sure its not the best, but in Italy you can eat every minute everyway around. The other thing is that sometimes the towels was smelling not so fresh but there where always clean!

“Right next to the Vatican”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

Comfort Suites is a small B&B which occupies part of one floor of a residential building located very close to the Vatican. We had a view of St. Peter's from our room (#1). Unlike other hotels that might also have a view, there is no other building between the residence and the Vatican walls.

There are seven A/C rooms and a common reception area. The reception area is only manned from 8am to around 2pm. So if you are arriving outside of these hours, you have to make advance arrangements for someone to let you in.

The rooms are spacious and clean and so are the bathrooms. The in room A/C works pretty well. There is an electric kettle in each room, so you can make your own coffee or tea before you head out.

Sound proofing is not that great. Streetcars that ply on Ottaviano or emergency vehicles might keep you up if you are a light sleeper.

For breakfast you get tokens for a coffee+croissant at a bar across the street, which is measly compared to all other Italian hotels we stayed in.

The wi-fi access was excellent. We could make VoIP calls from our rooms. The reception area has a printer if you need to print out boarding passes.

The parking garage is two blocks away and it cost us 20 euro/day.

The staff, when available, were very helpful.

“Lovely room, perfect location, friendly owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2009

This is the absolute perfect place for those wanting a spacious, modern room in a convenient location at a very reasonable price. Four minutes from the Vatican, a metro station, a fantastic shopping street, and twenty minutes away from central Rome (on foot). Great cappuccino and service from the cafe across the street and all staff here are friendly and very helpful. Of course, it is also true that this is not a conventional "hotel" - front desk is largely unmanned and there are no hotel "facilties" (by which I mean breakfast area, exercise room, etc) but the room is beautiful, the view gorgeous, the location perfect, the owners helpful and friendly. So it all depends on what you want from your visit. My husband and I loved it and will definitely recommend it to all our friends. And yes, the breakfast is small, but we just ordered one of their fabulous sandwiches for about 3 euros and filled up fine. There's just so much to eat in Rome, I don't think this is really an issue.
