“well located and cozy stay, made the trip to Rome worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

My boyfriend and I often go to Rome for holiday and this time we decided to try Finestra su Roma. To our surprise we found the place extremely clean, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The B&B is located in a great spot, near the shops and next to the subway - to go to the spanish steps it only took us a few minutes.

The owner, Mrs. Maria greeted us upon our arrival and explained how to get around. She also suggested a few local restaurants which were very good and gave us discount after telling them we were staying with Mr. Maria.

Overall, the nice environment and comfortable room made our trip to Rome one of the most memorable. We highly recommend it!

“only "Bed & breakfast" stay when you are visiting Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2009

We were a group of 10 people, even though we arrived almost mid-night, Maria and her husband (very helpful and kind), were waiting for us.
The apartment is just great, very comfortable beds, 5 stars bathroom, full equipment kitchen (even a washing machine for dirty laundry!), and fits great with your budget.

Me personally, who can hardly be satisfied from accommodation, will reserve a room there whenever I'm in Rome.
The metro station is just cross the street, pizza and shopping place around the circle, very nice location.

Highly recommended!

“Yes, it is possible to get good accommodation in Rome at reasonable cost!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2009

I had almost given up on finding somewhere to stay for a long weekend in Rome that was clean, safe, comfortable, easy access and wouldn't clear out my bank account. Until a friend told me about Finestra su Roma ["Window over Rome"]. It hits all the spots.
This is a four [five?] bedroom, two [shared] bathroom apartment with shared kitchen, on the 4th-ish floor of an elegant palazina. The owner lives elsewhere so it is not like you feel you are intruding on another familly. Breakfast is served in a bar around the corner, exactly as the Italians do [coffee and pastries]. It is right by the "Piazza dei Re di Roma" metro station [Largo Vercelli exit], which is a direct connection [about 4 stops?] from Termini train station. It is only just outside the historic wall of Rome (which you can still see). The owner speaks good english (and 'school' italian!) This area [Laterano] is the 'real Rome', just far enough from the tourist honey pots. I recommend the pizzeria etc "La Scuderia" on Via Urbino nearby.
Negatives: The Piazza dei R di R is an important traffic hub and so the street outside outside is very busy: there is a hospital nearby, meaning frequent ambulance sirens - but it also means banks and shops are convenient. Facilities are shared. On arrival, you have to ring the owner to let you in. I'm scraping the barrel here!

“Excellent place to stay any price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2009

Maria was very helpful from the beginning. Maria gave us excellent directions from the airport to her Bed & Breakfast. Her B&B is within 50 yards of the subway stop. She was there to greet us and showed us around her B&B with local information included. Her B&B was very clean with recently remodeled bathrooms (nice). If I ever return to Rome, I would stay at Maria's B&B.

“Best Value in Rome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2009

We booked this quaint hotel during the off-season of November 2008. Frankly I was a little worried as I knew the bathrooms were across the hall and the price seemed almost too good to be true. In a word we loved it. We were located very close to the subway and in the vicinity of the Colesseum. We stayed 3 nights and didn't mind the bathroom situation at all. There was also a shared kitchenette where Italian coffee was gratis. We had vouchers for a lovely little cafe around the corner. Maria was a very gracious hostess who spoke more than passable English. I would highly recommend this hotel if you "want to do as the Romans do"; my only reservation would be during high season as there were fans and open windows to cool you but no air conditioning that I saw. Our room would have slept 3 comfortably.
