The “rustically charming” B&B run by identical twins Yan & David Busby is just that- charming but a bit rustic. We enjoyed the “live like a local” feel of the 4 person room in the apartment (one queen bed & a couch/trundle- both comfortable & private bath), as well as the excellent location (close to Manzoni subway station & walkable to Colosseum), but had hoped for a more upscale room as appears in the website photos (www.galilei110.com). At one time it certainly was, but now, it's a bit too worn at the edges, as happens with Ikea furniture over time. The free wifi internet works great, though, the elevator was nice, and the use of the kitchen throughout the day with self-serve breakfast was a plus (although someone took our allotted breakfast pastry our first morning there). While the proprietors and Christina, the housekeeper, were very nice and gave us suggestions of local places of interest, there were a few things that will make us look elsewhere next time: lack of simple amenities such as shampoo & soap (although one twin did find some shampoo for us to use our 2nd night), a tempermental toilet (the housekeeper didn't even want toilet paper thrown down it which freaked me out but the owner said toilet paper was fine), a slow shower drain, a very loudly squeaking ceiling fan, no AC, a moldy, sulfur smell in the bathroom. Also, the website wasn't clear that they only take (or STRONGLY encourage) cash or a paypal (with 3% fee added) payment. All in all, the location was great, as was the wifi & local feel (why I gave it two stars), but the other issues will make us look elsewhere next time as the price (120E/nt) was a bit steep.
