“Good but don't forget your earplugs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

This was a good value hotel for Rome, but it was noisy, due to aircraft noise from the nearby airport.
The room was clean, the sheets and bed very, very comfortable. The breakfast was Italian style (coffee, cakes etc) but not enough, just 2 small breads and a bad cappuccino.
Don’t think to go walking to the airport, it’s impossible, it is about a 10-15 minute walk to Ciampino rail station and from there take a bus to the airport (1.30€ single ride).

There is Wifi, and service was ok.
Our bad luck, it was the champion’s league final that night, 50 noisy kids and a bus of Asian persons who left a 6.00am, so not really possible so sleep well with the noise plus the airplanes…

We took this hotel because wanted to get easily to the airport and sleep out of Rome's noice and it wasn't the best choice...

“Convenient and very clean but don't forget your earplugs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2010

This was a great value hotel for Rome, but it was noisy, due to aircraft noise from the nearby airport. We asked for a quiet room in advance, but could still hear planes, and were thankful we had our earplugs.

The room was clean, the sheets and bed very, very comfortable. The breakfast was Italian style (coffee, cakes etc) but ample for most, I suspect. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to Ciampino rail station and not too hard to find by foot.

We didn't use their restaurant, but when I asked about wifi, the receptionist was most helpful and the wifi was free! However, you need to bring your laptop to the foyer - the signal does not extend to most rooms.

We will definitely consider it again, especially if we can get a similar deal.

“Waht a difference a year makes”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

Our hotel in Rome – the Hotel Ciampino was a real disappointment from the (same) hotel from last year. Last year, the hotel suffered a hot water outage. This year it just suffered. It was hot - no - it was insufferable. When I complained that the room was an oven, the desk clerk was indifferent, but finally offered us another room – which was worse. We did manage to sleep – don't know how – maybe the Zopiclone. Worst breakfast (of 20+) on the trip and a staff who didn't give a damn. Would we go back? Not a chance!

“Avoid unless you're desperate!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2008

Due to unforseen circumstances we were forced to find a night accomodation last minute near to Ciampino Airport in Rome, we found the Hotel Ciampino and I wish we hadn't! The hotel was awful. The room was extremely basic, the bed collapsed half way through the night which would have kept me awake if the train going passed the window every 10 minutes didn't! Apparently they have a restaurant, they have some tables on the lower floor with a very miserable guy serving you one of the two choices available on piece of paper that has hand written notes and crossed out meals all over it, 1 dessert choice and 1 drink choice. The meal we did have wasn't al-dente, it was uncooked! Breakfast was no better, 1 croisant, 1 bread roll, 1 glass of dilute orange juice NOTHING else. The corridors are all tiled so every noise appears to resonate around the hotel, other guest and the kitchen sound very loud at 6am and the location is literally the middle of nowhere. The town of Ciampino is about a 20 minute walk away and has not a lot of anything to offer, it is a residential area of Italy which is fine but makes finding a restaurant or bar or generally anywhere to eat quite hard. On the positive, it was clean (although the shower leaked everywhere so the bathroom didn't stay clean for very long) and there was a lady receptionist who was so helpfully and so kind, I almost felt she was wasted in such a poor hotel. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, if your desperate then go for it, otherwise find something else because I felt more tired and hungry after my stay than I would have done sleeping at the airport!
