I spent 4 nights in a single room with a shared bathroom - you share it with only another guest, and it is just outside the door- for 35 Euros per night.
It is run by nuns in a nice building.
The room is very basic, just a bed - not very confortable for tall people like me - a drawer, a closet, a chair with a desk. There is a telephone, but no TV and curfew is at 11 pm.
No breakfast is provided.
Both the room and the bathroom are very clean; towels are provided, but mine were changed only after the first night.
The location is easy to get to and from the Termini Station - Express Bus 90 stops 200 meters away from the entrance - Palazzo Venezia ( 84 and 60) and Colosseo (60, but at the moment - october 2008 -it follows another route due to road works, be aware and ask the driver).
Not much is going on in the evening in the sourrounding area, a bar and a fst food nearby both close at around 8.30 pm.
For a couple of hights might be a good idea - you save some money that you'll spend in some trattoria...
