“worst stay in Europe”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2009

We stayed in nine places during our weddingmoon in Europe and this was the worst. The directions the booking agent gave us were excellent but once we arrived it was difficult to know what to do. After carrying our bags (including my wedding dress) around the building for quite some time, we ran into a young woman that was sent by the owner to meet us. She had us lug our bags up four floors and then we were able to take an elevator from the fourth to the fifth floor. But then from the main room in the B&B we had to lug our bags through a cramped unlit area and up a set of narrow wooden stairs to our actual room (room #1). The ceilings are only 6ft and there was a beam across the ceiling below that between the bedroom and bathroom that we both hit our heads on. Mark ended up with a gash in his head that we had to cover with make up for our wedding photos. The bathroom has poor ventilation and is therefore full of mold. The trim is coming off the cupboards. We have to take very quick showers because the drain is so slow, the shower would run over onto the floor otherwise. We paid 90E per night. The only good thing I can say about the place is that it’s in a very good location. But I would definitely not stay here again.

“Great location but horrible room/place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2009

Yes the location is wonderful. We could walk to Travestere for dinner or Campo di Fiori in a few minutes. It was also on a very quaint/quiet piazza.

However the room itself was very very disappointing. I read that the ceilings were low, however my husband (he's 6'2'') was not actually able to stand up in the room. I could barely stand up straight with flat shoes on (I'm 5'8'') but felt myself slouching since your senses feel the ceiling so close. I actually hit my head on a low hanging beam when we first arrived.

The other issue was the mold in the bathroom/shower. This is something that could easily be cleaned with bleach or soap/water, however it was very thick on the ceiling above the shower, all the way to the toilet. You can imagine how gross this is when your head is pretty much touching the ceiling. The shower also did not drain well, so we had to turn the water off every minute or so to let the water drain out so it wouldn't overflow onto the floor.

I wasn't surprised to hear other guests at the B&B, however they sounded so close, like they were in our room with us. From inside our room, we heard the people in the room next to us having sex, the baby in the room below us (woke us up at 5:30am every morning, not crying just chattering), and every detail of the conversation happening in the dining area. Alessandra, the manager, also tried to come into our room one day while we were napping without knocking.

I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. I would rather try to get a private room in a centrally-located hostel than stay here again.

“Great location, average room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2009

This B&B is in an ideal spot for exploring Rome. All the major sites are within walking distance, but it's not on a main road, so it's quiet. A few problems though: the breakfast was pretty much nonexistent, the locks on the doors were extremely frustrating (it took at least a few minutes to lock/unlock every time), the walls are very thin, and there was an ant problem in the bathroom. But, for this price at this location, it's still a good value.

“ideal location in rome”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2008

The location of this b&b is fantastic: every main sight in rome is within walking distance ! It's a very old apartment building (16th century ??), the b&b is on the 4th floor. The rooms are not the original rooms, but are newly divided with low ceilings and very thin walls and floors. Everything would be very acceptable if there would have been decent matrasses. The ones we found in our bed were the oldest, smellliest, dirtiest I have ever seen with plenty of holes and stains in them ! We were lucky that there was anaother small bed in the room with two thin but clean matrasses, which we swapped.
With this vital flaw I can only rate this b&b 4 out of 10 points.
With clean matrasses it would have been 7 out of 10.
