“Great location, pleasant stay but the did not serve us breakfast!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

This b and b was last on our 6wk tour of Europe. Even though the room was large and very nice - we did find a clump of hair on the edge of the bin!
Our host was very helpful and gave us tips for seeing Rome in the best way we could. Shuttle service offered to the airport was very cheapt too.
BUT.....considering the priced we paid, we were disappointed to recieve a cold breakfast on our first morning. Even more disappointing is that we werent even offered breakfast on our last morning (we were leaving at 7am which every other b and b we stayed at offered us early option for breakfast...after all, it was supposed to be a bed AND breakfast!!!!).
Overall a nice stay, but wouldnt return.

Dear Alasdair,
I'm always sorry when one of our guest is not satisfied with his stay and we will try to use your complaints to improve our services. I just want to specify some things: an Italian B&B can't cook any hot food. The law force us to only use packaged products, this is the reason why in the description of our services we specify that we only serve a continental breakfast. I know that some other B&B are not respecting this rule but I honestly do not want to take risks of this kind. Also as you were informed at the check-in we serve the breakfast from 8Am to 10Am but, when requested from guests that are leaving early, we use to organize it a little earlier or to leave in the room a little bag with something to eat in the morning directly in the room (where you also have a kettle with a small selection of tea bags and coffee that allow you to prepare hot drinks). The only problem is that we can't read your mind! If you need an early breakfast we need to be informed to be able to organize something for you. Some time we just need the help of our guest to give them the best service!
I really hope that we will have another opportunity to have you here and try to change your mind about our services.
Kind Regards
Paolo

“Good location, nice hosts, great room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

It was our first day in Italy after a rather hectic circus that Indian weddings usually end up as. It was our first day in Italy and we couldn't have chosen a better place to camp!

Location:
It's a 10-min walk from the Termini. If you're the types who'd prefer Rome on foot, this place is located well. We covered most of Rome on foot and it helped that this B&B is located where it is. If you're seeking a landmark, it's bang opposite the Opera.

Rooms:
We booked late and had to "make do" with the biggest and best room at the B&B. With everything inside ivory white, it's just the kind of room we needed to unwind after a hectic 15 days. It's a clean, large room with a comfortable double bed, 42" TV (which we had little use for), a coffee machine and a spacious wardrobe. The room looks out at the Opera and the street, but there's hardly any noise that comes in through the window. The bath and the shower are clean and adequately good.

Hosts:
Paolo, and a sweet lady whose name I cannot recall, were friendly without being nosy. Paolo offered a few invaluable tips, including one that the Vatican doesn't permit people in sleeveless tops or in shorts.

Breakfast:
B&Bs in Italy (Europe?) are not allowed to run hot kitchens. So don't expect omlettes and the type. For a cold breakfast, the spread here is pretty good. Lot of options to choose from.

Verdict:
Haven't stayed at other B&Bs in Rome, so cannot compare. But this was, undoubtedly, the finest place we stayed at during our 10-day trip. If it fits in your budget, go ahead and book.

* Unable to remember clearly, but I think they didn't charge us for Wifi

Room Tip: Servizi Superior! Most definitely. Gorgeous!

“Fantastic B & B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I stayed at this B & B in September 2011 with my mother and husband. This was my mother's 1st trip to Europe, our 1st stop being Rome, so I was hoping this B & B would kick off our 3 week vacation to a good start. After much research (and deliberation), I decided to book Armonia All'Opera and it did not disappoint! The rooms are a great size, are very clean and are beautifully furnished. I loved the old lift and the gorgeous, large wooden doors at the front of the B & B. Our host, Paolo and his sister were very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. The B & B is within walking distance (approximately 10 minutes) to Termini Train Station (main train station) and Repubblica Metro. I only wish we could have stayed longer! I would definitely stay here again if I return to Rome.

“A very professional and comfortable B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We stayed for four nights in December 2011, and overall we were very happy with Armonia All'Opera.

The location is perfect. Nearly everything is within walking distance. There are amazing churches and museums within a few minutes walk (don't miss Santa Maria della Vittoria just three blocks up Via Torino), and excellent shopping along Via Nazionale. To the southeast is Santa Maria Maggiore, to the south is the Colosseum, Imperial Forum and Roman Forum, and to the west and northwest is the historic centre. We enjoyed walking up Via delle Quattro Fontane to the Spanish Steps.

The room we stayed in was large and comfortable, with a large bathroom. Everything is well maintained, extremely clean and very professionally run. Anyone who doesn't care for B&Bs because it's too much like staying in a stranger's house will have no trouble here. The feeling is more like a small hotel than a home.

The wifi is very fast and there are multiple routers to choose from. The street is quiet, yet only one block from a major thoroughfare. We were not disturbed by any street noise, which was a surprise in the centre of the city.

Paolo is very practiced at giving guests excellent tips on walking routes to the major attractions, and there is also a sheet in the room with very detailed routes.

Only two negatives to report, neither of them very serious:

The breakfast is very basic with fruit, packaged pastries, and bargain-brand yogurt. This is fairly average for Italy, I understand, though we stayed in several b&bs on this trip that offered far more.

Be aware that if you should need to make a phone call, there is no phone available to guests and no help provided by Paolo or his staff. This won't be a problem for Europeans who will have their own mobile phones with them, but may be trouble for anyone from other continents who cannot use their mobile phones in Europe. We had to call our airline to fix a problem with flights, and found ourselves at a payphone in the metro station trying to deal with confusing instructions in Italian. (We actually had to go into a hotel to get help from a concierge just to find out what the hold recording was saying -- many thanks to them!) In the end it was an adventure to brag about, but it would have been nice to have a staff member at the B&B who could help us.

This lack of guest support is the only thing keeping me from giving Armonia All'Opera a rating of Excellent, but overall I was pleased with the B&B and would stay here again.
