“Quiet haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The Il Bassotto was a welcome haven in the busy-ness of Rome - a perfect spot to begin and end your day, with quick easy access to all the tourist sites. We liked how modern, clean and comfortable the room was, and particularly enjoyed breakfast on the little balcony (the evenings were super too!). We were a little disappointed that some of the breakfast items were prepackaged, but the taste and the quantity made up for that. The area is residential and reasonably quiet, with lots of little shops and restaurants/bars. The outdoor market just down the street was a nice treat. Stephano, our host, was always friendly and extremely helpful, recommending some restaurants, bus routes and general tips, as well as an evening glass of wine and some olives. Grazie!

“Lovely B&B in the ideal spot - book in confidence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2009

We were attending the Champions League Final 2009 and were struggling to find suitable accomodation in Rome when we came across this little beauty.
Facts
* Situated in a really nice residential area, with a couple of lovely cafe/bars (Bar Greco & Gregorys Bar) on the corner (all the local bars / cafes are much cheaper than the ones in city centre)
*15/20 min walk to the Vatican & St Peters and another 15/20 mins to Piasso Navrona, Trevi Fountain etc
*If visiting the Vatican go on a Wednesday morning (10 am) as the Pope offers an open- air mass/blessing you can attend, what an uplifting experience even for the non-religous!
*Rooms are functional & modern with really nice shower-rooms and power showers
*Good basic Italian breakfast of juice, cereals, coffee and toast & jam
*Free Wi-fi/Internet connection
*Steff your host is really knowlegable and helpful and points you in the right direction for all of the things you may need, especially good eating places
*Check out their web-site which has a short video of the B&B and opt for the room with the balcony (We used this as a triple) www.bbilbassotto.com.
* I would recommend that you contact the B&B to see if Steff will arrange airport pick up and departure as the taxis at the airport are a rip-off if you are not carefull (tried to charge us £95 one way whilst Steff arranged our deparure to Ciampino for £40 for 4 x people)
* Have no problem recommending this B&B as we really enjoyed it and would definately return
Regards
Bob

“Best little B&B in Roma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2008

My wife and I just came back from Rome and we stayed there 5 night. It was great! Stefano the owner is a really nice guy who always is available to answer any questions. He recommend 3 restaurants for us and all were superb. These were not tourist traps. I am Italian myself and we were eating at some very good locals places. He provides a good breakfast which in Italy is hard to find.
It is about a 10 minute walk to the Vatican, I know I did it about 10 times. It's in a safe part of town, residential.
There is a great hot table place where you can eat just on the corner and a cafe next door. All amenities are close by, the buses are easy to get to and it's about an 8 euro taxi ride from the ancient area when traffic is not bad.
I would recommend it any time to anyone. We are hoping to go back again.
Also he speaks perfect English if you can't speak Italian.
Thanks again Stefano!
