“Great place to stay in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We recently stayed at B&B Danilo. Andrea, the owners Father, made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked through the door and was extremely helpful and courteous. Although the place is a little hard to find initially, once you find the main front entrance from the street, the B&B is situated on the 2nd floor, and there is a small lift. The room we had was very nice and had a small balcony, it also had A/C. The location of the B&B was perfect for sightseeing, trams run very close by, and it is just a 5 minute walk from a great selection of restautants and bars. Having now seen all the major sights in Rome we would highly recommend Trastevere & Danilo's as a place to stay in Rome. Trastevere has a great atmosphere at night, and feels very safe with plently of restauants and bars that are reasonably priced and have an authentic feel.
Thank you Andrea for helping to make our first visit to Rome so memorable, we will definitely stay there again.

“Great stay in Trastevere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

I would stay again at the B & B Danilo. Although the B & B is a modest affair-decor and age of building referencing-they feature great service, clean and quiet rooms (building renos aside), decent breakfasts with an amenable host adding the morning flair, situated in a fantastic area (Trastevere region is incredible for dining and walking around at night). B & B Danilo is walkable to all the major tourist landmarks without all the noise and density that visitors bring. The bonus was having a well known clothing chain store and a national food store within meters outside the entrance. But you never noticed it because of all the other sidewalk activities. A working class neighbourhood-I felt we were exposed to the non-tourist Rome!

“Perfect Honeymoon Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2011

So my wife and I took a trip to Italy last year for our honeymoon, and while we stayed in Rome, we came across the B&B Danilo. Our first impression of the place is that we found it just a little hard to find from the main street, but once we found the correct address the rest of it was awesome.

When we arrived we were greeted by the owner's father who helped run the place, and I believe who lived there. His hospitality was great, especially when he found out that I was an Italian-American, and that my parents were both born in southern Italy. He graced us with such a warm welcoming, and showed us to our room and told us that if we needed any recommendations that he would gladly help us.

The room was very nice, and it actually had A/C, which is really hard to find in Italy. The A/C definitely came in handy as we stayed in Rome towards the middle of June which starts to become pretty hot. Everything about the place was great, we woke up to an authentic Roman breakfast, and had plenty to eat.

The location of the B&B is just on the other side of the historic center (Trastevere) and closest to the Pantheon (for those familiar with the area). This made seeing the south part of Rome very easy, but a little bit of a trek to other places such as the Spanish Steps. I would also recommend walking around Trastevere as it is a very pretty and often overlooked part of Rome.

Overall, we were very impressed and staying here was one of the most memorable experiences we had while in Italy, as its usually rare that you'll meet someone who welcomes you as a local. I really thank the host for his hospitality, and would want to stay there again.

“Would definetly stay there again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2011

I spent 3 nights at B&B Danilo with my 13 year old daughter in October last and was very glad with the warmth and and kindness addressed to us from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. It was my daughter's first time abroad and it was very important to me that she felt welcomed and confortable in a place I could afford to pay.

I had been to Rome over 10 years before with her father and didn't appreciate staying near the Termini area, so this time I wanted to try a different location and picked Trastevere after reading about it on a travel guide. It was worth it: there are nice cozy restaurants for having dinner after a long day of sightseeing and as the tram stop is practically in front of the B&B, you get to be in the historic center of Rome in no time.

We were happy to get this charming bedroom with a canopy bed and although our bathroom was shared, it was never occupied when we needed it and it was always perfectly clean.

The best of all, though, is the friendly atmosphere that makes everyone comfortable and willing to interact in the common areas, such as the kitchen and hallway. I sure feel grateful to Danilo and his father Andrea for making our stay in this wonderful city even more unforgettable!

“Perfect location; comfortable, budget-friendly option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

My mother and I traveled through Italy in September 2010 and stayed here for 3 nights. It was the perfect, budget-friendly spot for our time in Rome. We arrived very late at night but we let Danilo know in advance and he was there to welcome us and carry our luggage (there are several flights of stairs to get to the apt); he was very friendly and made us feel at home right away. We actually didn't see Danilo much over the next two days, but his father was always there and he was very helpful. He mapped out our walk to Vatican City for us, showed us how to take the bus instead of an expensive taxi to the train station, and gave us an extremely helpful map with all of the sites that we wanted to see circled.

The location was absolutely perfect. We did not want to stay in the touristy heart of Rome, but rather in the quaint neighborhood of Trastevere. This B&B was a very short walk from the narrow cobblestone streets of Trastevere, and also an easy 15-20 minute walk from the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and many other sites (the walk to Vatican City took about 30-35 minutes but was a nice walk). We loved Trastevere and would definitely recommend it. This felt like staying in a friend's apartment in a real Roman neighborhood; our window looked out into the apartment building's courtyard where we felt like we were living with the locals.

The breakfast, bedroom, and bathroom were not luxurious but were certainly sufficient and everything was clean. If you are looking for a budget-friendly apartment with friendly hosts and want a true, local Roman experience, this is a great option.
