“Would not stay again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

My mom, my cousin and I stayed at this B&B in Sept 2011 for 3 nights

Good points - Close to the Colosseum (about 15 mins walk)
Central to lots of eating places and metro - (about 3 mins walk)
Friendly staff
Free Wifi
Fridge in the room
Microwave available (not in room)

Bad points - You need to buzz in for someone to open the door, however, no one was available when we arrived. We waited outside until a resident of the building let us in, and then we waited outside of the entrance to the B&B for about 20 mins before someone arrived
This is not a hotel, it is an apartment converted to a B&B, so there are a number of other residents in this building who are not affiliated with the B&B
Walls were dirty
Very noisy
No a/c
Mosquitos in room as windows had to be opened due to the lack of a/c. My family members were severly bitten by the mosquitos
Shower was small and not designed for large persons. The shower also leaked water on the floor
No clean towels were given
The safe was small and not bolted down
Could only get wifi in the common area, and not in the room
Fridge did not work properly; items placed in the fridge were not kept cool
Staff member speaks very little English(There were only 2 staff members when we were there. There is a gentleman who speaks pretty good English, however, we had more interaction with the lady who checked on us, and brought us breakfast but she spoke very little English so it was hard to communicate to her)
Disturbed by individuals in the room next door. (When they were in their bathroom in the night; the light shone through to our room)

This is some place that we would not stay at again.

“Plain and simple: not good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

What was good about it:
- It had a bed
- No bugs
- 20 minute walk to the Colosseum
- "Breakfast" delivered to your room
- Washrooms were kept fairly clean
What was bad about it:
- The bed sunk in whenever you sat or slept on it.
- The sink faucet in the washroom would pour out water onto the floor from where it connects to the sink whenever you turned it on.
- General decor reminded you of a 70's hotel
- The mini fridge was broken and smelt bad
- T.V didn't work
- Breakfast could barely be considered continental. It consisted of warm juice, stale packaged croissant, packaged crunchy toast, American coffee = Large espresso watered down, Tea = Chamomile
- Table cloth and walls had stains

It's an apartment someone converted into a "B&B" because they can't be called a hotel since it only has 3 rooms and to make the bare minimum as a B&B they do the absolute bare minimum. The only reason the breakfast is brought to your room is because the kitchen can only hold two people at a time. The 3 rooms are all beside each other at the end of a hall resulting in you hearing your neighbours every move and I'm sure better places could be found on a similar budget.

Overall, only book if it's your last choice.

“Nice staff, clean room, book directly through the B&B.”

This B&B was a standard stay. It is not an "upscale" stay but the room is clean and the staff is very friendly. For breakfast you get an espresso, croissant, packaged toast, nutella, and bread. The location is a good as there is a metro stop right around the corner. The man in charge gave us a refund for a night because we took a side trip to Florence. However, the refund he gave us was only 1/3 of the price we paid for the night because he said that the website we booked through takes a cut -- I would recommend always booking through the b&b directly rather than use the booking websites. He also failed to refund us the service charge and VAT for the night and when we tried to explain that to him he didn't understand what we were saying. Overall, I think this is a good place to stay - very functional, but if you're looking for something nice and cozy or a place to hang out, then this is not the b&b for you.

“great location, clean rooms, very friendly and helpful host”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

The ariosto B&B is very close to the centre in a good area. The rooms are very clean and the hosts are very helpful and are caring for their guests in a very sweet way. I was surprised how cheap it was, you get very much for this great price. I would visit this place again and recommend it, it was great!

“Great Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2010

In April my husband, my in-laws and I stayed at B&B Ariosto for a couple of nights. It was our first time in Rome and I had been in charge of booking the accommodation. It's really hard to find a decent priced B&B in Rome and even harder to find a clean place (we also stayed at another place in a different part of town and it was a rip off and very dirty). B&B Ariosto was great and only 15 mins walk from the Colosseum. Super clean bathrooms (yes, there are 2 not 1) and big rooms. Breakfast wasn't great but that is because Italians don't eat breakfast. Besides there are so many places to stop and grab a bite to eat while walking around the city (which we LOVED). The hosts are really nice and helpful. They stored our luggage for the day once we had checked out. The place is very secure and safe.
The downsides: it's hard to find (from the Colosseum direction make a left onto Via Ariosto and it's the first apartment building on the right - you need to check the buzzer for B&B Ariosto as there are no signs) and the top blanket on our beds (there was no top sheet) was dirty from previous guests (I'm sure if it bothers people they will give you another sheet...).
If you can get over those 2 minor details definitely stay here.
