“Our second stay here - highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

This was our second stay in Rome and having been so impressed with Maria-Rosa Guesthouse on our first stay (we found it via Trip Advisor in 2008) we didn't even look at any other accommodation. Our second stay was just as good as the first.
Maria-Rosa is located perfectly making it in walking distance to everywhere. It takes 30 minutes to stroll to the Vatican or Coliseum or a bit longer for Piazza del Popolo, and on the way you stumble across a number of other amazing buildings or piazzas that you would miss if taking the bus or tram. It is also very close to a great range of restaurants.
While staying in Rome we'd highly recommend going to the Palatino, Forum and Coliseum (combined ticket is 12Euro but you can easily spend the whole day there), and also the dome of St Peter's Basilica - at this time of year you can be up there to see the sun set and city lights come on). We also had great fun on the segway hire - 15Euro for an hour but you can literally go wherever you want. There are a few stands around but the best one was by Castello Sant Angello. You will need to leave a form of ID as deposit e.g. photo driver's licence so remember to take one per group).
In addition to being a great place to stay,Sylvie the owner will be able to give great tips on places to visit and the best times, if you want help, as well as offering bikes to hire or other free helpful things like umbrellas or binoculars.
We will definitely stay here again.

“Definitely would recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

This was a wonderful place to stay. Sylvie, the owner/hostess, is amazing! You are actually staying in her apartment where she has two rooms available. She gives you excellent information before you arrive and links to help you get more information for planning your trip. Once you are there she is a wealth of knowledge and couldn't be more helpful to get you acquainted with Rome and direct you as needed. Look her up on Facebook!

Her place is very clean and cozy! We didn't have a problem with either of the following but just FYI...there isn't an elevator to get up the four flights of stairs and you share a bathroom with other guests.

“Perfect affordable spot in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

My sister and I stayed at Maria Rosa's Guesthouse our first night in Rome and had a wonderful experience. Sylvie was out of town unfortunately but she made arrangements for her friends to take her place. Her friends were extremely welcoming and kind to us. They seemed to truly care that we felt comfortable and knew where we were going. The room is big and clean and the bathroom, although shared, is close by and clean. It was great to stay in a home that felt loved. Sylvie's recommendations were helpful. The area is great, but DON'T take a cab from Termini Station (very expensive for some reason)! We wish we could have stayed longer and hope to be back someday!
