“A good stay with great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2010

We booked this apartment type hotel according to the reviews on trip advisor and it didn't disappoint us at all. The hotel is conveniently located in the hostoric center and you can walk to pretty much any attractions you want, also a very short walk to the Vatican museum. The rooms are much bigger than we expected, good space, and the washroom is huge too. We loved the table and chairs inside the room. They serve breakfast in the morning in your room according to the time you want which is so convenient. We bought some takeout from the restaurant across the street once and we enjoyed dinner in our own room so much. The restaurant is called trattoria Da Luig which I highly recommend. It's full of locals all day long and the food is great. The price is also moderate.

The downside of the hotel is that it's on a very busy street and it's very noisy at night. Our room was facing the busy street so it was difficult for us to sleep at night. They switched the room for us the next day, which was a lot better.

“Didn't even have a room for us”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2010

We picked the A.Rivederci hotel for what appeared to be an ideal location, right in the thick of things, within easy walking distance of all the major attractions, and easy to get home at the end of the night.

Unfortunately, despite receiving a personal e-mail somebody at the hotel in response to our questions about the airport shuttle service the day before, we arrived less than 20 hours later to be told that they had no room for us because of a plumbing problem.

The man at the front desk told us that we were to be put up in a new hotel and that it would be "better for us". While we waited for the taxi to arrive to take us to our new hotel, we asked the man how far away it was and were told "5 minutes by Metro". We were obviously quite aggrieved and disappointed at this stage, but we didn't feel like we had any options. We knew how booked up the hotels in this area got, and a trudge up and down the main street with all of our luggage was not a viable option.

A 20 minute taxi ride later and we walked up to the front desk of our new hotel and asked them where we were now located on the tourist map of Rome. "We aren't on the map" was the reply! It turned out we were now around 25 minutes out of the city by Metro.

Our experience was now the opposite of what we had hoped for when we arranged our trip. We had gone from being in walking distance of everything, to being completely out of the city. We were now faced with an hours worth of travelling every day just to get in and out of the centre, with the added worry of making sure we could get a taxi home at the end of each night. We ended up spending over 100 Euros in travel, not to mention the time lost each day.

We can understand that an unexpected plumbing problem cannot be foreseen, but we feel that the way we were treated was terrible. We have sinced asked for compensation and been told we are not entitled to anything.

If the hotel had acted apologetically and been prepared to compensate us in any way for our troubles then we wouldn't feel so hard done by, but the fact that they quite clearly do not care about effectively ruining our stay in Rome is extremely disappointing.

“Perfect location. HIghly recommend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2010

We stayed for eight nights. The staff was courteous. We appreciated it being staffed 24 hours. Comfortable and clean room with plenty of space. Amazing location that made it easy to walk to absolutely everything. We liked that the continental breakfast was served in our room when we requested it. Great value for the price. We would definately go back there again and would highly recommend it.

“Comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2009

Very clean room and bathroom. Nice, simple breakfast served in the room according to your desired time slot. Effective AC. Polite and helpful staff. One feels very secure as the Town House is located inside a large building. We had a very pleasant stay overall though the noise from the traffic on the street was annoying.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2008

We have just returned from a week at the A. Rivederci Roma.
The location of this hotel is excellent - within walking distance of all the main tourist sites.
The room was large and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the bathroom (after reading reviews from many other Rome hotels). There was always hot water for showers, the shower cubicle was spaceous and had a good power shower. There was also a hairdryer on the wall and fluffy towels.
Breakfast was served in our room which consisted of tea or coffee, pain au chocolat, croissants, small rolls, melba toast, jam/butter/marmalade/honey. It was a bit too sweet, and not helped by dusting the croissants with icing sugar!! Another criticism was that the tea wasn't always hot enough. Nonetheless it was filling enough. There was also the choice of cold meats, cheeses, orange juice, scrambled egg, bacon at an extra cost. A small glass of OJ was 3 euros and it wasn't that nice. We found a small supermarket accross the road where we bought a carton of fruit juice for half the price.
The room came with air con which was great and not too noisy. A minibar which was very useful for using for our own drinks/food. An LCD tv which was great but didn't have many english speaking channels - MTV, BBC World News, CNN, and one or two others depending on time of day. A safe which was useful.
The front desk was manned 24 hours and all staff were friendly. Most staff spoke good English.
We found our room (103) to be noisy from the traffic outside despite the double glazing and asked to be moved to another room on our second day. We were moved the following day to room 203 which was quieter.
I must say that there are a flight of steps to climb to reach the hotel which may be a problem for elderly guests.
The hotel may be difficult to find without a map/local knowledge. We were lucky that I had written down the address to show the taxi driver who found it straight away. There is ony a small brass plaque on the outside to indicate where the hotel is. To enter we had to press a buzzer, and the staff unlocked the huge front entrance door to the courtyard. From there it is ahead, then turn right - not very well marked. The outside doors are locked on weekends and over night so you need to ring the buzzer to be let in.
A nearby restaurant "Da Baffetto" was a great place to eat and very reasonably priced.
Piazza Campo de Fiori had a market on Tuesdays. It is also a great place to have a few drinks in the evening. It is 5 mins walk from the hotel.
Overall it was a good place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in a good location. The rooms were clean, spaceous and the staff were friendly.
