My husband and I stayed here after our cruise. It was an easy taxi ride from the train station. If you use this hotel, the checkin is at Hotel Mozart which is right around the corner from Vivaldi Luxury Rooms. I believe some of their units are apartments, but ours was just a room. I would have liked a little larger room, but this was fine for us.
The security was great. You are given a passcode to enter into the building and then another when you enter the room on your floor. The entrance is on Via del Corso which is a main street in Rome. You are an easy walk to the Spanish Steps on one side and Plaza de Popolo the other direction. Via Condotti with all the big designer stores is a close walk if you like to window shop. There is a market about a block away, as well as a specialty food store where we bought amaretto cookies and biscotti for gifts. There are stores and restaurants very close for you to walk to so you cannot beat the location. The last time we were in Rome we stayed near the Vatican, but we preferred this location as it was more centrally located. The metro is a 5 minute walk, and the bus lines are also close - they leave by Plaza de Popolo which is also a 5 minute walk. Get yourself a bus and metro map and you will be able to get around easily.
Our room had been recently remodeled, and was very clean. There was a safe in the room so if you wanted to lock something up you could. The bathroom was very modern and clean, and had good water pressure and a nice shower head. The room was small which is typical for Europe. It was air conditioned with a mini split which was appreciated in the 90 degree temperatures. They have a small elevator so you do not have to lug your suitcases up steps. This is an old building which has been remodeled. The mattress was hard, but fine - it did not bother my back so I got a good nights sleep. They do have high speed internet - I could connect from my ipod and they also had a computer available for you to use so you could at least check email.
Breakfast was included with the room. They had a nice selection of pastries (some of them homemade), bread, cheese and some meat. They also had cereal and yogurt as well as fruit juices. The best thing was the Cappuccino. They have a big machine and are happy to make you one each day at breakfast. They also have regular coffee if you prefer.
Hotel Mozart has a roof garden with a bar which I definitely recommend. They make a great Bellini there. They have beer, and wine in addition to cocktails. The roof has a nice view of the city, and we enjoyed talking to other couples from all over the world who were also having cocktails there.
They also have a sauna you can use (they call it a turkish bath). We did not try this - too much to see in Rome to spend time on this but it is available and is free. I did not see a pool or a fitness center, but did not really look. There may have been something in the Hotel Mozart.
The hotel staff were great - they got us a driver to go to the airport. They suggested places to go to eat and even gave us a larger map than the one I had.
Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view or terrace. We liked looking onto the street where we could watch the ac...
