Good value compared to hotels in the area. Just a room in an apartment (2 rooms are let out to guests), Rome equivalent to a small B&B in the UK. On the 5th floor but the building does have a lift. Mara is a nice host, does not speak much English but enough to get by. Felt a little uncomfortable to be in someones apartment at first but your never made to feel your in the way and the room we stayed in has a bathroom ensuite. Room small as was the shower but comfortable bed. Quiet location in a nice part of town, felt safe and it was very convenient for the Vatican and not too far from other attractions if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Its a pleasant stroll to the centre though, some nice bars on the way and the sight of a floodlit St Peters when you have it to yourself is impressive. There is also an underground nearby. Underground is not extensive although its great for places such as the Trevi fountain & the main train station. There is also a square near the vatican which is something of a transport hub for the bus & tram, although there are no maps to tell you which tram to take, so difficult unless you know your way around. Would recommend if in town for a night or 2, although not sure about a longer stay.
