Roi Hotel was chosen for our stay in Rome. Considering it's price, I guess I could be a little harsh on my evaluation, but, traveled to Paris already, and already payed a hotel the same as I payed Roi Hotel, I expected more from it.
The hotel per se is fine - it's sooo close to the Roi Subway station, which is a blessing in this great city. We were just outside the city walls, but we couldn't notice since we were side by side with the subway.
The room a/c wasn't good - too noisy, but we could sleep all right, even though it was more than 100F/40C by day!
The shower had mold in it and the plastic door was broken. There were clean towels and the floor was pretty clean.
I didn't like the carpeted floors, but my allergic-husband made no complaints, so it should be really clean.
The breakfast was included, but it was really poor - 2 croissants, 4 toasts, some butter and jelly, 1 glass of juice and 1 cup of coffee/cappucino/cafe au lait, served on a tray, in your room (no proper table, just a small work desk that we had to put some of our things, like cellphones, wallets, etc! - no ohter room for them!)
There was an elevator - but I had no guts to get into it. Since it was only one floor, I took the stairs. I didn't see that elevator work!
Staff, if spoke well English, made no effort to use it. It was one of the toughest place for us to communicate.
