“Overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Roi Hotel was chosen for our stay in Rome. Considering it's price, I guess I could be a little harsh on my evaluation, but, traveled to Paris already, and already payed a hotel the same as I payed Roi Hotel, I expected more from it.

The hotel per se is fine - it's sooo close to the Roi Subway station, which is a blessing in this great city. We were just outside the city walls, but we couldn't notice since we were side by side with the subway.

The room a/c wasn't good - too noisy, but we could sleep all right, even though it was more than 100F/40C by day!

The shower had mold in it and the plastic door was broken. There were clean towels and the floor was pretty clean.

I didn't like the carpeted floors, but my allergic-husband made no complaints, so it should be really clean.

The breakfast was included, but it was really poor - 2 croissants, 4 toasts, some butter and jelly, 1 glass of juice and 1 cup of coffee/cappucino/cafe au lait, served on a tray, in your room (no proper table, just a small work desk that we had to put some of our things, like cellphones, wallets, etc! - no ohter room for them!)

There was an elevator - but I had no guts to get into it. Since it was only one floor, I took the stairs. I didn't see that elevator work!

Staff, if spoke well English, made no effort to use it. It was one of the toughest place for us to communicate.

“Cute little hotel in the heart of Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011 via mobile

This hotel was amazing! Me and my friend went to Rome for 5 days in mid June earlier this year! Being Italian I chose Rome because it's a beautiful capital and I have lots of cousins there. I wants a central yet value for money hotel and this stepped right up to the mark! Lovely breakfast every morning, they changed our sheets, gave us the option of tidying our room every day ( which we didn't take as we are 2 twenty year old girls ha it was a mess!) bath room was a reasonable size and always had clean towels. Air conditioned! The reception staff were wonderful too providing us extra pillows. Not to mention Andrea who was just a dream! Only about a 15 minute walk from the buzzing center (colosseum) and the walk was lovely walking past st giovanni. However if you're not a fan of walking then there is literally a metro station about 3 seconds from the hotel which is a euro or 4 euros for 24hours anywhere you like! One night we were stuck where to eat so the receptionist told us his favourite place to eat which was round the back of the hotel and t was awesome and only cost us 14 euros for 2 mains and 2 drinks! Obeying young and knowing people in Rome we wanted to go out, and come back at different times this was perfect as the reception is 24 hours even for an 11 room hotel! The last day we had time to kill before our flight and from checking out so the receptionist let us put our suitcases behind the deskwhilat we went round Rome one last time! Our hotel defiantly played a big part in our holiday! Majorly recommend this hotel to anyway who wants a cheap cheerfull central hotel in Rome!

“not perfect but amazing location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

PROS: The location is amazing, 10-15 minute walk to the colosseum and San Giovanni di Laterano Basilica... The rooms look nice and have very high ceilings. The area has allot to offer in walking distance and the subway is only a few steps away. It was not very expensive for what we had. There was a nice flat screen TV mounted on the wall and the building has the smallest elevator I have ever seen!

CONS: The towels and carpets were dirty and the toilet seat did not fit the toilet. The people at the front desk were a little rude and not always around. We once waited 10 minutes at the door before they buzzed us in.

“Would not stay here again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

Having arrived from Florence and having stayed in a fantastic hotel room there, the Hotel Roi in Rome was a bit of a wake-up call. Situated on an incredibly hectic and noisy roundabout, our room (overlooking the roundabout, despite my previous requests for a quiet courtyard view room not being passed on by the booking agent). The shower room was very very small. The shower drain was blocked and the most disgusting stench eminated from it every day, despite being told it had been fixed. The smell was so bad we retched every time we had to visit the bathroom.

Breakfast was brought into your room on a tray - very basic.

The staff however were lovely - could not fault them.

The advantages are that the roundabout contains an underground train station below it and it goes direct to Termini (watch out for pick pockets at Termini and nearby stations) where you can change line. However, In future I would pay more and try to stay right in the centre of Rome - quite a trek back to this hotel late at night, after a tiring day sightseeing and walking.

Paid the same amount as our lovely hotel in Florence but was very disappointed with the Hotel Roi.

“fantastic stay at Hotel Roi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2008

On a recent trip to Rome we stayed at Hotel Roi.

We give this hotel a score of 10/10 as the owners/staff were very friendly and welcoming. The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent and the rooms anf facilities were great. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The only draw back was the traffic outside, which was continuous 24/7 however it did not bother us a great deal and we managed to sleep very well!!!
