A great place to stay when in Rome. This apartment is within walking distance of several major attractions, including the Vatican, Coliseum, Forum, and for the energetic sightseer, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and Navrone. Travestere itself offers the vacationer a glimpse of a multi-cultural environment, interesting shops, night life, street performers, an occasional morning accordion player, and restaurants ranging from pizzerias to high-end formal dining. For drinks and occasional live entertainment try the Ombre Rosso. We saw jazz musician Mark Fish there, and he was quite good. Travestere is definitely an experience one should not miss.
The apartment is well appointed with secure storage for valuables, free TV with English speaking channels carried via satellite, free Internet, a fully equipped kitchen, a very comfortable bed, and literally hundreds of books that suit any reader’s interest. The bedroom, located in the rear of the apartment away from street noise and the nightly revelry of Travestere, guarantees a quiet night's sleep. The landlady is friendly, personable, and helpful. This St. Egidio apartment is our first choice for future Rome visits.
