Long story but have to tell it. Firstly we booked Borgo Pio 64 then they said they were overbooked and asked if they could put us up in an apartment they have (Michel Angelo suites) which we thought might be nice but they never gave us the address or where to pick up the key. We emailed them from Sorrento the day before we were to arrive and they never answered so we emailed again and said we had no access to internet or a phone so we would meet them at Borgo Pio. They were not there and after 45 min we finally found someone who knew them and called their cell and were angry that they waited at the mystery address and that we didn't show. We got to the apt and got some food to cook but stove didn't work and kitchen faucet not even attatched to the counter and although it says bed and breakfast on the building we got store packaged toast and jam. Nothing else.
When we found out the stove didn't work the neighbor offered for us to use theirs& they shared their story with us which was not great. apparently they only got one roll of toilet paper for a family of three for a week stay and they had already been there almost a week and not even fresh towels and yes the breakfast was store bought toast and jam. They got there money and that's all that mattered. While we were cooking next door the door closed behind me and the key was in a lock that turns on the power so when I turned around we were completely locked out. Tried for an hour and a half to reach them but they would not answer their cell phones. I finally got a nearby hotel to try over and over and after another half hour they finally answered and sent a friend over with a key so we shared our concerns with her. Fortunately we had only paid a portion of what we owed and were going to see if we could find somewhere else but they said we would still owe them for the reservation so we asked what the breakfast and towel policy would have been at Borgo Pio and somehow all of a sudden they were no longer overbooked but wanted 10 Euro more per person/per night even though that is the reservation I initially made. In the end we got them to move us to the neighbors where there was a gas stove and we got new towels when we moved but ........there is no breakfast and don't think there is and I can't understand why since there is to be a fridge in each unit and to have 2 litres of orange juice and some yogurt in the fridge with some nice croissants or bread and jam is SO EASY and SO inexpensive to do.
This is young couple and I don't necessarily think they try to cheat but I think they are not at all interested in hospitality or have the slightest understanding of how it is to be travellers, they just want to make some easy money. I say I wouldn't recommend however I have to say this has the potential of being a great situation, and it was a great location with a grocery store and the vatican within 2 blocks but the management of the operation is terrible. Just know what you are getting into and negotiate accordingly
