“Emily and Marco are the finest Hosts in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

The place is definately clean and the service and hospitality was excellent. Marco found my partner and I sitting at the terminal looking lost, no reservations, so he took us to the B&B which is <3 blocks from the terminal, less than a 5 minute walk (luggage included). We stayed 2 nights had to leave the 3rd due to prior reservations, so we found another place about 1.5 blks away for our 3rd night but went running back for the 4th and 5th nights. Emily and Marco are such great people. Emily is one of the kindest people you'd ever want to know, she has the biggest heart and if I ever find myself in Rome again I will try to and hope that I stay at Tropical B&B. I already MISS EMILY...

Room Tip: hope that Emily is there and you get to talk to her over breakfast or when you check-in or check-out...

“Great B&B- Excellent Hosts, Spotty Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

This B & B was excellent! It was clean, the hosts were lovely, the breakfast was good, and the rate was great! The one downfall (not to anyone's fault) is the location. Yes, it is EXTREMELY close to the train station so that is a plus, but it is because it is so close to the train station that makes the location a bit spotty.
Walking around the train station at night is scary and dangerous. There are plenty of homeless people sleeping and peeing all over- It smells awful as well. We had a guided tour in Rome that week and she even told us that she didn't like the location and she thought it was dangerous. But again, this is not anyone's (especially the owners') fault. Also, the B & B isn't exactly located by many tourist spots. It is quite far from Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. But the plus to that is that public transportation is near.
I would reccomend staying here to anyone, I would just warn of the dangerous area, and inform whomever not to stay out too late!

“Lovely, kind hostess”

This B&B was spotless -- extremely clean. Not necessarily exactly my style, but a lot of attention and thought was put into the decor. Very convenient location, next to the train station. But what really made the difference was Emily, the owner. So kind, so attentive, patient -- just a geniunely lovely person. Will definitely be back.

“Fantastic little place in a great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011

We arrived to Rome without a reservation and were approached by a guy who had a room at a guesthouse. I usually never go with someone outside of stations, especially in big cities like Rome, but I am so glad I did!

Walking to the B&B, we noticed lots of neighbors saying hi to him and he even thanked us checking out the room when he was the one that saved us a long search for a place on a really hot day. The couple who runs Tropical B&B is so friendly and the rooms were fantastic. Lots of really nice furniture instead of your usual sparsely furnished rooms at this price. The shared bathroom was exceptionally clean and the hallways are decorated in a way that makes you feel like you are staying at someone's really comfortable home. We had to leave Rome early the next day and were surprised when the woman who runs it offered to set out some breakfast. The location is great...near Termini but on a nice street and we slept well.

I really can't say enough good things about this place and feel really lucky to have such a nice place to stay on future visits.
