“Indescript budget B&B, steps from Termini Station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This hotel was difficult to find, even though it was super close to Termini station. There is no sign outside of the venue to indicate that it is even a B&B. It seemed more of a residential building where the first floor has been converted into 6 rooms to rent out. But the accomodations were adequate for the night. I was simply looking for a place to lay my head that was close to the station to catch an early morning flight back to the US. Thankfully I arrived by chance at the same time as the front desk asst. manager, because it is otherwise unmanned. All in all, a nice budget hotel with all necessary amenities.

Beautiful design and good breakfast and there is free internet. This is only 100m from the train and bus station and there is many italian fast-food next to your door. Olso all the views is so near only 10 minites walking. I hope to go there and have fun...

“Good Price, Friendly Staff and Excellent Location!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

It was my first time in Rome so I chose Dem Guesthouse based on Trip Advisor reviews, the price and its proximity to the Termini station.

I missed one of my connecting flights to Rome so my time of arrival changed. I was not able to advise the Guesthouse of the new ETA so nobody was outside to meet me. It was a bit hard to find the place since the building façade is not that of a typical hotel. But I managed to get in and asked where to find the Guesthouse when some residents of the building entered. It was then that Emanuel found out I arrived so he helped me with my heavy suitcases.

Check in was fast and easy. The room was spacious and clean and there was a pair of slippers to use. Devid, Emanuel and a lady (I forgot her name) are bilingual and were very friendly and helpful.

I had to leave Rome for a couple of days to visit Padre Pio’s shrine in San Giovanni Rotondo so I had to check out for this trip. However I was going back to the Guesthouse to spend a couple more nights there. I did not want to bring my entire luggage with me. Luckily they agreed to keep them in the Guesthouse while I was away until I returned and checked in the second time. That was really nice and much appreciated.

The Guesthouse is very close to the Termini station, restaurants and shops. I like walking so I was able to check out the most of the sites on foot.

By and large, Dem Guesthouse was a good choice and I would stay there again if ever I return to Rome. I highly recommend it to travelers on a budget who want good accommodation for their money.

“Clean good budget”

The Dem Guesthouse is a short 5 minutes walk from Stazione Termini if you know the way. Cross the road and go to the next block by taking the corner shop selling magazine and fridge magnets. Dem Guesthouse is in the middle of the stretch.

The reception was attended only from 9am onwards and we were early. Upon announcing our arrival via the beeper (look for Dem Guesthouse) by the door (it is a hugh gate), Lauder came right down to pick us up. The rooms were on the second floor so the climb was easy. Check in was quick and we were on our way for our walks in Rome in less than an hour. We were also provided with recommendations of what to check out in Rome, which was expected. Maps were provided free. This was great as not all guest houses had this service. A frequent traveller will know that it takes time to get to an Informazioni Turistiche in Italy, and not all are close to the Stazione.

The room was of an acceptable size with private toilette and bath with hot water (which is a MUST for winter travel). Wardrobe was decent but short of hangers. There were only four. In winter, we had jackets and scarfs to hang, not to mention clothes and inner wear which had smelled fresh due to the weather.

Breakfast was provided and in the form of packaged toasted bread, croissants, nutella, corn flakes, milk, orange juice and crackers. Italian breakfast is expected to be sweet as contrast to a German breakfast which has a better mix. It would be nice if a bowl was available for the corn flakes. Also, we had to sit on the floor for breakfast, which was ok for us.

Suggestion number 2: have a simple set of instructions for the coffee maker as well. The counter was not manned in the early morning and it took a while to figure out.

For TV, you will have to pay for all the channels listed.

The room was alright for the price and I will recommend travel buffs on a budget to stay here.

“Nice place, excellent location, nice owner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We stayed for a weekend at DEM. Devid was nice and helpful. The place is very clean, modern TV and aircondition, nice and clean bath, a fair breakfat is waiting in the room. The price is much lower than hotels in Rome, and for less money you get a better and personal service. We definately will come back again!

Room Tip: excellent if you look for a Kosher place!
