We stayed at Youbed to complete a month-long vacation and were absolutely thrilled from the moment we arrived till the day we had to leave. Long before arrival, Barbara had remained in contact with us, with clear instructions and details on reservations etc. The day before arrival, as requested, I contacted Barbara and advised her of my arrival train from Firenze. Barbara offered to meet me at the Lepanto station - a pleasant surprise!
She met us there and walked us to the facility. Contrary to the address listed, Youbed is only about 3 blocks from Lepanto metro stop, located at Via dei Gracci. The building appeared secure, surrounded by a couple of gelatarias, restaurants and bar. It is very close to the major street of Via Cola de rienzo and filled with good shopping etc. Barbara showed us to the top floor area, a group of 4 bedrooms and a breakfast area. Our bedroom was, as requested, a quadruple with a queen and two single beds, a couch and a table. The bathroom was large for Rome standards and well appointed with ample towels, soap, shampoo, hair dryer etc. The breakfast area has a refrigerator, espresso/cappucino maker and snacks from the breakfast for munching during the day, as needed.
As my photos show, the space is large and comfortable. I was always awake before breakfast preparation and never heard anything in our room. Our A/C worked wonderfully, the closet was large and usable and the room very nice.
Barbara pointed us to Gigis, a trattoria located a few blocks from youbed and a short block or two from the Vatican. Though nothing out of this world, it provided a great respite from the normal pizza/pasta fare at the restaurants. The Gelatarias downstairs served delicious gelatos and the tabaci, also downstairs, was able to meet my need for a vodafone top-up card. There are lots of ATMs nearby, and the Kabab place up a block on Via Dei Gracci had some delicious kababs.
THe B&B is a very comfortable place, at a great location, close to a metro stop that sells the Roma Pass, and served by an awesome group of people - a hidden gem in the bustle of Rome.
Room Tip: Ask for the type of room and # of beds - i chose quadruple to sleep me, my wife and two kids...
