The Relais Piazza Del Popolo is an excellent place to stay while in the beautiful city of Rome. It is located right by the Metro station and in front of the Piazza del popolo. Everything is so tidy & in place and our host Rosi was so charming & helpful. The only problem was that Wifi was not available in the rooms far from the reception but otherwise, everything was perfect.

Took ages researching hotels in Rome as they all seemed so expensive and offered very little. I am so glad I took the time to look and ended up booking this one.

It is a small boutique hotel on the 3rd floor (with lift) of a large building overlooking the very pretty Piazza del Popolo. It is a little difficult to find so read a couple of the reviews to print off more detailed directions. Basically once off the Metro at the Flaminio Stop(the Metro is fantastically clean, feels safe and easy to use and costs 1 euro per person to go anywhere!) you need to look for Burger King and number 9 is a couple of doors away with very large brown doors.

The hotel is ideally situated in a clean residential area and although it is on a main road there was no noise at all once in the hotel. A very short walk (5 mins) to the shopping district (via del Corso) which is the other side of the Piazza. Versace, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Hermes plus a lot of high street stores and restaurants.

The hotel is very chic and a lot better than I could have expected - Very comfortable bed, top quality bathroom and TV with english news channels. The room also had air conditioned which was most welcome after walking around Rome in 32 degree heat.

Breakfast is a typical continental one - cereals, fruit, toast, jams, youghurts, coffee etc... Served in a lovely,albeit small,breakfast room which is just next to the reception desk so the receptionist is on hand to help show you where everything is.

Free Wifi is available you just need to ask for the code. I didn't end up using it as we were out and about so much and Wifi in most areas of Rome is Free and confirmed by clearly marked signposts.

As we were only there for a couple of days we went on the open top bus tour for 20 euros per person which allowed you to hop and off the bus at all of the main tourist sites.
Mainly - Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseo, Vatican.

All in all I loved the trip to Rome and the hotel was fantastic - if you are looking for somthing close to the main attractions, shops and bars. Book this hotel and enjoy!!!

Relais Piazza Del Popolo is a great hotel if you're an independent traveller. While we enjoyed it throughly, it's not for everyone. Here are the pluses and minuses that we observed during our trip.

Pluses:
-centrally located right next to the Piazza del Popolo Metro stop. We also used the 117, 119 and 95 buses. The #2 tram stopped right outside the building in case you want to go to see the new MAXXI museum.
-one of the cheapest places to stay in this nice safe high rent neighborhood. We went during September which is high season and this was by far the nicest place for the money. Any cheaper, and we would be staying near the Temini or further out of the city.
-window that opened and AC that worked.
-jacuzzi tub & bidet, they also have a shower but there's no shower curtain to keep the water from splashing all over the place. We loved the jacuzzi bathtub for soaking our tired selves after a long day of touring. While most people complained about how tiny the bathrooms particularly the showers were in Rome, the bathrooms here at Relais were sizable.
-spacious room with modern furnishings. The hotel is sleek and modern although the room we stayed in could use a little paint to cover the scuff marks. Bed was comfy with a "Temperpedic" type mattress.
-Right next to Piazza del Popolo, Pincio Garden and Via Del Corso (the main shopping drag in Rome) and lots of great restaurants for every budget.
-Conveniently located next to two Bankomats (ATM machine). You will need lots of cash while in Rome as a number of restaurants and sites only took cash.

Minuses
-towels are like thick dishtowels (not really a minus unless you're expecting big fluffy towels)
-breakfast is a typical roman breakfast with juice, coffee, fruit and pastry. (not really a minus unless you're expecting an american breakfast).
-they really don't have anyone at the front desk full time so if you need anything, please request it when you check-in as you may not see anyone for the rest of your stay. (we made all of our own arrangements in advance so it really didn't affect us.) Rosa, who works the front desk and cleans the rooms is very sweet but she's not totally fluent in English.
-they don't tell you how to find the place. We researched the hotel before we went and found out how to get there and most importantly, how to get in. (Once you get off the metro, look for the Burger King). It's in the same building. Go to Piazzale #9. If it's between 12 noon and 3, the big brown doors will be locked for lunch. If that's the case, ring the doorbell and someone will come down if they are there. Rosa who mans the front desk may be cleaning one of the rooms during that time. If you arrive at any other time, before 8 pm the building door will be open. Go in and turn right to go up Scala (stairs) B. Take the retro elevator up to the 3rd floor. (If you take the stairs, you need to go up 4 flights as the 1st floor counts as the lobby) As soon as you get off the elevator, the B & B is right there in front of you. It's easy to find if someone tells you, very frustrating if you have to find it on your own. Note that they will give you three keys, one for the building, one for the B & B front door and one for your room. I'm not sure what you would do if you forgot or lost those keys. We made sure that we always had them especially since we had no way of contacting anyone should we get locked out. Also, I believe you need to make special arrangements with them if you need to check-in after 7 pm.
-the only real problem we encountered was that they said they offered Wi-Fi but when we got there, it wasn't available. When asked when it would be fixed, the reply was that they called the repairman but throughout our stay, he never showed up.

This, so called, hotel has a great location close to Piazza del Popolo and the shopping district. It is more a floor with 7 rooms and a tiny breakfastarea close to the reception. Located at the third floor in a common house it was qiute hard to locate at first.
Once inside we got a nice, but small room , fully furnished.

The flipside of our stay is the constant lack of staff in the reception. The only time there was one present was at breakfast time. Speaking of breakfast, that was a joke; slow , but friendly, service and the only option was croiassants and coffee with some youghurt.
