We are a mature professional USA couple who stayed at this hotel in Rome Italy for 4 nights beginning 9-28-2009 and were shocked by a number of issues not previously encountered on our 22 day European trip. The hotel first is very hard to find being marked only by a green door and a button with H2000 noted on it. Much of the staff does not attempt to speak English very well but I suspect that this is a way of avoiding issues for them and we did find 2 non-managerial attendants who provided us with useful information.
Free Internet was stated but was unavailable and the manager Fernando Funichello refused to make any adjustments as a result of this. This was the primary reason we purchased the 4 days at this particular hotel.
There was considerable road noise and there were no shutters to help block it out. Breakfast was served in the room with one small cup of coffee and a croissant. Tobacco smoke seemed to emanate from someplace periodically during the night and always in the early morning and the source was never discovered. Signs assured us that no one was allowed to smoke on the premises. However upon inquiry with a different person, I learned that smoking was allowed in the room opposite us (#16) and the fumes appear to travel under the door. I did not notice it in the afternoons, so it apparently airs out during the day some.
At checkout we learned that our bill had been enhanced by the fact that our room was intended for 3 people although it is not clear where the third person would have slept comfortably. Fernando refused to change our bill for any reason. We are disputing the charge with the credit card company and expect the bill to be reduced significantly. I will report an update in the future as it unfolds.

Well equipped clean bedrooms, with air con, in an excellent location right in the centre of Rome within easy walking distance of the main rail terminal and tourist attractions, such as Trevi Fountains and Spanish Steps. Access is unusual as reception is only apparent after entering an outer doorway with intercom. On the whole a very acceptable base for central Rome and was suprisingly quiet. A limited choice breakfast is served in the room only , but there is plenty of choice in the vicinity for a more substantial breakfast if required.
