“Fantastic location”

Just came back from Rome and stayed in B & B for the first time. Great ! Will do it again in a heart beat. Location is FANTASTIC 1 minute walk from a great Piazza. Trastevere is amazing, been to Rome many times but my first stay there. It is very authentic and has a wonderfull ambiance ! Many young people. We slept at the first floor ringt above the Calist bar and saturday night there is a lot of noice but we found it charming - felt like a part of the package. Room was VERY clean. We had a private bathroom which is the only negative thing I have to say about this place. It was on the other side of the hallway so you have to get dressed if you don't sleep 8 hours in a row :-) AND it is SO small, so using the shower is not easy - but very clean. YOu are completely on your own, but we have no problems with that. Breakast in the bar below included int he rate cannot be recommended - go to another nice bar in the opposite way bar Baylon - great coffee and cakes :-) We really enjoyed the stay and had a super nice fromthe owner mr. Andrea (mail correspondance) even though we did not see him, but wife helped us with our luggage while we were out seeing the city before departure - very nice people !

“Perfect Roman holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

I stayed at Calisto 6 B& B with my 2 teenagers for 3 nights in September. The Trastevere neighbourhood is so classic and full of life day and night with so many restaurants to choose from . All the reviews are true about the bar downstairs, it rages all night every night , but we loved the atmosphere and closed the shutters and windows, switched on the air con and had a great night sleep every night. We ate the included breakfast in the bar and they made the best coffees that we had in Italy. We were allocated the blue room which had lots of charm and character, was very clean and spacious . The bathroom was not ventillated and was like a cupboard but we really didn't mind as everything else was perfect. We got the dates wrong and were greeted by the owners at midnight after I telephoned from the airport. They were so kind and walked all over the area and found us a place to stay as they were full. Get a Roma pass for bus travel and museums, brave the public transport and stay away from glossy restaurants with waiters in black tie as the best food is in the smaller places with characterWe all had a ball in Rome .Enjoy.

Room Tip: ask for the blue room

“Very disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

We expected to get a room like one in the pictures, beautiful, colourful, with a high ceiling and with bathroom.
With the promise of a quiet room, we were lead to a different building and given a room there. We were not shown the B&B that we had booked.
This is what we got:
- a very small room with a very small double bed, not much furniture: nothing like in the pictures
- narrow staircase to get to the room which was right under the roof
- crooked ceiling, could not stand next to the bed
- windows high up, could not look out
- bathroom in a different floor, small and ugly
- very loud air conditioner of other rooms
- breakfast had to be prepared by ourselves, no fresh croissants or bread
This B&B overbooks rooms and you can not be sure that arriving in Rome you get what you had reserved! But of course you will have to pay the same!

“Second time staying here -- no frills, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

If you don't mind that bathrooms (whether private or shared) are across the hall, and there isn't really a "front desk"-- this is a fantastic base from which to explore Rome & Trastevere in particular. Best if you have a few days or a week in the city -- I wouldn't stay here if I was trying to hit all the big monuments in a day or two.

Basically you're staying in someone's palazzo-apartment rented rooms above a bar. But the windows are thick, there's beautiful, functional air conditioning, and the convenience is worth it. You're in the middle of everything -- around the corner from amazing restaurants, a bunch of enotecas, the #8 tram, and a horde of other tourists who love the nightlife but will have to haul back to their hotels across the river at the end of the night. Not you!

“Great place to stay and loved the location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

Just returned from a week stay in Italy and stayed at the Calisto 6 Bed and Breakfast for two nights. Was pleasantly surprised what we got for our money. We were a party of 5 adults and shared two rooms. The bar below the rooms was closed for a few weeks in August, but that probably wouldnt have bothered me too much. Might have been fun to hang out there. Very secure place, have to meet someone for the keys. This was not a problem, in fact, we called to say we would be a few minutes late. After going through a secure door, had to go up twenty steps, so keep this in mind if you are traveling with older people. Secure door again to get in apartment. You actually stay in an apartment with a foyer. There appears to be 6 available rooms with locked doors. Each of our rooms had a bathroom across the hall. The bedrooms were beautiful, very clean and airy and furnishings were new and tasteful. The bathrooms were smaller than we are used to but again very clean. Our rooms had a airconditioning unit that was new and worked very well. These rooms were just steps away from many restaurants and a fountain in the middle of a square. At night, the locals would gather there. We actually saw a wedding couple walking through the plazza. So kool. I would highly recommend this place for its location in Trastevere and because we felt we were getting a true Italian experience staying there. The free breakfast the next day at a local "bar" is the only thing worth skipping. Just a roll and coffee.

Room Tip: Traveling with three people, request the room with the blue ceiling. Has double bed and single. Tw...
