We booked Roman Residence for 3 nights based on the wonderful reviews here and at another website and its proximity to the Termini train station since we were arriving early from Venice.
After booking the room, we got an email from Massimo with a welcome message and asking us how we want the beds arrange, what time we were getting there and directions to the place. This was the beginning of hospitality and service that went above and beyond.
Staying at this wonderful place was like staying at a family or friend’s house. Massimo and Liesel were very helpful with all our Rome questions. We got in early and our room wasn’t ready yet so we left our luggage with them and were given vouchers to eat. By the time, we returned in the afternoon after some sightseeing our luggage were stored in the room. After checkout, we also left our luggage with them since we weren’t checking in to our airport hotel until late in the afternoon.
We were given vouchers at a local café down the street where we had our complimentary breakfast every morning. This family owned café was staffed by an older gentleman and his twin sons and was very popular with the locals. We were able to choose any pastry or Panini on display with freshly brewed cappuccinos and fresh squeezed orange juice. They were so friendly and very accommodating.
The room we had (Room 1) was huge with modern furnishings. The room and bathroom were very clean and was kept spotless throughout our stay. They have a library of guide books and umbrellas you can borrow. There was one elevator that worked for the most part but the stairs weren’t that bad.
One of the best services and amenities (among the many) they offered was of course the mini-refrigerator/mini-bar many have written about here. It was well-stocked and replenished everyday with water, beer and wine. It was great to save some money on water as we spent the day sightseeing and refreshing to have the beer and wine to enjoy after a long day exploring Rome. There was also a bowl of Italian candy and chocolates that was always filled in our room that satisfied our sweet cravings. Free wi-fi was also a big plus.
The location is excellent with many restaurants and shops nearby. Termini station is a couple of blocks away which will connect you to the 2 metro lines and a multitude of buses that will take you everywhere in Rome and beyond. We felt safe even walking around the area at night.
This was the best place we stayed at during our 10-day European trip across 3 countries and 4 cities which included stays at two 4-star hotels. It was the little touches of convenience, great service and friendly atmosphere that made this place stand out. We highly recommend Roman Residence and will surely return here on our next visit to Rome.
