“Decent Accomodation for my Roman Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Filippo between Nov 29 thru Dec 1,2011. The hotel is one street over from the Very Large Termini Station and I found it with no incident. My 2nd floor room was very neat and I had no problems except for the wi-fi and television (like I visited Rome to watch tv???). Sabrina and her assistant Li were ready at moments notice to help and answer any questions. I was able to come and go as I pleased and I would stay here again. Good price value, nice hardwood flooring and clean restroom.

“Very Bad Experience”

I was to stay in Hotel Filippo Roma during my trip to Rome from 6-8 October 2011. The hotel was very far from the Roma Termini Station and we had to drag our luggages across several streets on Via Filippo Turati. This is very tiring, considering we just arrived at 9am in Rome from Munich on a night train. The signage for the hotel was very small and we had to ask some locals for directions. After going through the front door of what looks like an apartment for local residents, we had to go up two flights of stairs before reaching the door of the 'hotel'.

As the door was locked, we knocked on the door and rang the door bell for almost 10 min but still no one answered. We even tried calling the mobile number provided below the bell but no one answered that as well. In the end, we had NO CHOICE but to forfeit one night of our booking and look for another hotel instead. Beware of how this hotel scams its customers and never book it especially if you are arriving in the mornings.

“Convenient and affordable”

Most affordable and in a convenient location. One block from the Termini and mercado. Also by a lot of restaurants!

“It worked for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We stayed at the Hotel Filippo in Rome for 2 nights during our recent vacation in the city. The hotel is located right opposite the Rome Main Station occupying Level 2 of a residential building. The area is safe at night and it is also home to Rome’s mini-Chinatown where there were a couple of Chinese restaurants and shops along the same street.

We stayed in a triple room that was newly renovated. Even though it lacked character, everything in the room worked well with the exception of the TV which we gave up trying eventually. We were happy that complimentary drinking water was provided and the bathroom was spacious. Our bed was comfortable and the bedding smelt fresh. We were generally happy with our room.

Our room rate did not come with breakfast but we paid an additional 10 Euros for 3 persons to have a simple breakfast at the train station. The hotel was owned by a friendly Chinese and being Chinese speaking myself, this was a particularly heart-warming encounter.

What I liked about the hotel was its location being very closed to the Rome Metro Station which we used it for our sight-seeing in the city. There was a functional supermarket at the station for us to stock up on our groceries. All in all, we were generally happy with our room and the environment. This hotel is suitable for travelers who would like an affordable and comfortable stay who is not too particular with the décor.

“Too Far From Everything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Our adventure was pretty much the same as everyone else's reviews. It was hard to locate from the train station. Maybe our map was wayyy off because it was much further than it appeared on the map. We got to the "office" and were escorted by a little man who walked us a few blocks away to a different location. He showed us our room on the bottom floor of an apartment complex. The area is definietly sketchy and there are no restaurants in the area open at night to get a decent bite to eat. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed. It was a bit small though. There is a small lounge in the basement where you can get a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate. You have to walk about two blocks to get to the subway station. Overall I would not stay here again if I returned to Rome. It is too far from everything except the Tremini Station.

Room Tip: Choose a better location.
