“Would NOT recommend.”

Bathroom was disgusting....wouldn't set foot in the tub/shower, and the toilet is strategically located in the corner so that the seat will not stay up on it's own (this way everyone urinates on the seat). The sheets and pillow cases had several stains on them and there was no light bulb in the overhead light. Breakfast was a croissant prepackaged in cellophane or plain cereal. The location was near the coliseum but had no good restaurants nearby. By far the worst room we stayed in on our trip and would never go back.

“Good Location, Ok Accommodations”

B&B Celimontana was in a great location--just three blocks from the Colosseum. It was a little loud at night because of how close it was to tourist areas, but nothing you couldn't fix by closing the window. The hotel is a couple floors in an apartment building, and each floor has 3-4 rooms that share a bathroom. This was ok if you used it right after the maid cleaned, but, at least when we stayed there, there were a couple other guests who left the bathroom an absolute mess--hair everywhere, urine on the toilet seat, etc. After they left and other guests came in it was fine. Also, the lock on the bathroom broke halfway through our stay, so we had to leave our bedroom door open to make sure no one tried to go in when one of us was in it.
breakfast is provided-croissants, bread, coffee, tea.

“B&B Celimontana okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2008

Rome is a crazy, noisy city. I would recommend staying someplace that felt more like a refuge from the city. Although there were a lot of positives here, it was not a refuge for us.

We booked through [--]

Pros:
Location is good -- near the Coliseum metro stop so we walked by the Coliseum a lot! In retrospect, I would stay closer to the happening Trevi Fountain area the next time.

There are some good reasonably priced restaurants on the street.

The bed was comfortable, the room a decent size. The shared bathroom was large and it had a good shower by European standards with lots of hot water.

The breakfast was okay , a small start to the day-- coffe and tea, juice, packaged croissants and pies and toasts.

Our host was nice but did not speak much English and we think he recently started this business and is getting the kinks out.

Price was good.

Cons:
Noisy street, bring earplugs! Better quality windows may have helped. I would not stay here when it is hot as you'd never sleep if you had to keep the windows open.

Maybe I am just not a candidate for sharing a bath with 3 other rooms (6 or more people). . Had to wait quite a few times to take a shower or use the facilities.

The worst was when we came home late one night and the key to the front door would not work! We were locked out and on the street after a long day. We buzzed and buzzed and finally a neighbor in the building let us in but she was not happy about it and yelled at us like it was OUR fault! Said we should have called the manager but we did not get a cell phone for our Europe trip so how were we supposed to do that? The locks and doors all need some work! I guess it happens often as one of the other neighbors yelled at our host about it the next day.

Overall if you can sleep through anything, it was not a bad deal.

  • Liked — Fairly comfy bed, lots of hot water in the shower
  • Disliked — The street noise
