“Miserable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2010

This is the first time for me to give less than 3 points to hotels. I regret I made a wrong choice. Probably the hotel did not make any fatal error, but lots of small things which should be mentioned here. This evaluation may be based on my personal preference. Actually many other guests have given good ratings. Therefore, to avoid emotional discussion, I will try to describe as factual as possible.

1. Hotel management
Adas Hotel, Romano Inn, Centro Romano -- peculiarly, these hotels are the same hotel. Same reception, same breakfast room, except that under which name you book through. Compare their websites. This means that, when you make a booking of either of those hotels, you should also refer to reviews for other two hotels. Adas Hotel -- 1200th, Centro Romano -- 120th. The appropriate ranking may be somewhere around 700th.

2. Room
About 9 square meters. (2.25m*4m), 3 sm (1.5m*2m) of which was a en-suite facility with shower cubicle (80cm*80cm), washing basin and toilet. Smaller than the room shown on their website. Seems recently refurbished, cleaned well, whereas a 10cm hole could be seen on the wall, dust falling down. Room on the north side of the building, with 1m*80cm window. Loo cracked. May hurt your bottom. No heating facilities. Only an air conditioner. Of course, no fridge, tea facilities.

3. Towel
Interesting. Perhaps it was not 100% cotton, but paper-mixed textile. Like disposable table clothes. No exchange during our stay for couple of nights.

4. Breakfast
7:30-9:30, not by 10:00. Menu was as advertised (coffee, croissant, cereal). The breakfast room was tiny. 18 people within about 10 sm (=2people in 1sm), and no confort. I had to que up to get a cup of coffee. Imagine fully-seated Mcdonalds. The personal space might be even smaller than Mcdonalds. I got pretty tired from the morning, though I had a lot to do on the day. You may have to wait to get a seat in busy time. We gave up having breakfast there from the second morning.

5. Payment
Cash only. Credit card not accepted, on the contrary to the advertisement.
6. Check-out
10:30, not 11:00 (advertised time)

7. Location&no robbery
Location is relatively good, close to the metro station. Our luggage was not robbed, though we left it (locked suitcase) in our room.

We paid less than 100 euro per night, which was cheaper than the standard price in central Rome. It is all up to readers if this hotel is worth staying. I may stay there if I am a single traveler and the price is below 39 euro per night...

“A trip not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2010

My Wife and I stayed 2 nights here in Rome this was an unexpected Christmas present from our daughter. If you land at the Ciampino airport go out side to the bus area you can catch a bus to the terminal in Rome this costs only 4 Euros each compared to the 50 Euros in a taxi this takes about 40 minutes. When you arrive at the bus terminal’s main entrance there is a information kiosk there right opposite is the Road Via Cavour where the hotel is walk down on the left hand side as you can see the numbers of the properties much easier continue to walk down the road at the bottom the road turns slight to the right cross over hear and the Centro Romano Hotel is about 150 yards on the right
If you take the Leonardo express, the metro to Via Cavour, on the entrance there are steps either side go up the stairs turn to the right and walk about 150 yards to the hotel.
The elevator is very small and so is the reception area but clean. The hotel is on the third floor all rooms face street. We ended up with a decent size room next to reception desk and hotel bathroom.
Room card key was used to start electricity and we had to give our key when we left room at desk, The rooms had wardrobe bed side cabinets, bed for two, or two single and bathroom safe small enough for passport and money and keys. The bathroom had walk in shower, toilet bidet, and wash basin and hairdryer.

This hotel is a bed and breakfast and it looks like recently painted because everything was new. They provided us with continental breakfast (bread, butter, jam, croissant, juice yoghurt, bottle water tea or coffee) every morning at the time we wanted Staff were very friendly.

It is located two blocks from the Coloseum, a short 10-15 min walking distance to the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain. There are lots of restaurants around the area. We used one opposite side one block down with old famous stars in it the food was very nice and plenty. There is a Chinese Restaurant one block down on the same side as the hotel very friendly staff and a good choice
We visited the Coloseum 12 euros to get in, The bridge of Angles (Ponte Sant Angleo) was a 7 euro in taxi from the Colonna Triana and Mercatti Trelanei If you cross the road right in front of the Mercatti Treanei main steps down the street for about 150 yards there is a street market turn there and at the end is the Trevi Fountain it is not sign posted clearly.
The bridge of Angles (Ponte Sant Angleo) is about 5 minutes walk to the Vatican they are both worth it to view There was a security scan to go through at the Vatican but when in side is remarkable and the tomb below the main area is worth going into to see all the old Popes. From the Vatican back to the Coloseum cost 15 Euros in a taxi.
This was a trip that we did fully enjoy and would like to go back to someday.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2009

Wonderful room, helpful staff, great location, complimentary breakfast. This room is very comfortable for a very good price - a rare find in a city like Rome! I would definitely recommend as a place to stay!

“Definitely Worth It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

This hotel is close to Cavour Metro which makes it easy to get to and from the airport while hauling a luggage. It is only a few doors (or so) down from Grand Hotel Palatino. Catch the B Line Metro from Termini towards Laurentina. Cavour stop is only one stop south from Termini.

This hotel is very close to Coliseum. In fact if you stand at the traffic light further down the hotel (from Cavour Metro stop), you can see Coliseum if u look to the left. Getting to places is pretty easy but if you have walked a full week like us, you might want to hop on a tourist bus - most of which stops at Coliseum, so it was great for us. For those taking taxi on a Sunday night, it might be useful to know that this street will be rather congested.

The room is moderate in size. The shower is big enough to move around in. I wouldn't say that the rooms are noisy. The double window keep most of the noises out. You can still hear sirens but it is not often. Some might complain that the towels are like linen (not fluffy) but it is big, it dries and it warms so that's good enough. For smokers, you can smoke right in front of the inner entrance to the hotel. Ace for free internet with no complicated login procedures.

Every morning the staff will bring you your breakfast - 3 croissants, 2 cuppa, 2 boxes of juice, loads of jam and butter, 2 spongy cake/bread with filling, 2 small tubs of yogurt and two bottles of water - more than enough for us.

The only downside to staying here are the restaurants up and down the street from the hotel. We only tried a few restaurants - one to the left, one to the right and another at the end of the street to the right - none of which are good. The best one we had was at Campo dei Fiori (about 20 min walk).

“Nice room near the Coliseum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

We stayed here for five nights in October and our room was very clean and cleaned well each day while we were out. The staff brings a light breakfast (capuccinos, bread, jams, juices) to your room each morning at your preferred time.

While the staff was not very helpful with recommending restaurants (in fact, do not eat at the restaurants they recommend, they are very touristy) and setting up events for us to attend, they were friendly - just realize you'll have to do all the planning on your own. Luckily, they have a computer hooked up to an internet in a common area and they have wifi, though sometimes the wifi doesn't work.

The hotel is in a convenient location, only a block from the Coliseum and Imperial Forum. Piazza Venezia is only a 10 minute walk away and it's only 20 minutes to Campo D'Fiori, Piazza Navona, Pantheon area. Once you're there and enjoy a drink, it's only a few more minutes to Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps area.

The hotel will give you a decent map when you arrive, though note that some of the sites on the map pictured are not actually oriented in the direction they are on the map. (The Pantheon does not face the way it faces on the map which caused us some confusion).

While the hotel is on Via Cavour (quite busy), if you shut the double layer of windows, you can easily sleep at night. From Termini Station, take the metro to Cavour; it's only one stop away, and Cavour metro is only a 3-5 minute walk from the hotel. Do not be scammed by the cab drivers at Termini; if you don't want to haul your luggage on the metro, make sure the cab drivers turn on their meter -- you're not very far from the hotel.

We HIGHLY recommend Cavour 313 wine bar as a place to eat lunch or dinner right down the street, approximately a 2-5 minute walk. Go out of the hotel entrance and turn right and walk approximately a block. The restaurant will be on your right on Via Cavour. It was featured in Rick Steves' guide and it is NOT a tourist trap. The waiters there are helpful and the food is very authentic to Rome, though they have specialities from other areas that are labeled as such. In other words, no fettucine alfredo on this menu (fake Italian food - if you see this on a menu, leave immediately).

We don't suggest eating anywhere else right near the hotel, they all appeared to be tourist traps and we ate at one unfortunately (recommended by hotel staff).
