“Decent place decent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We chose this B&B for its price and its location. The B&B is off the main street about a block and a half from a metro station two stops from the Termini. The staff are very nice and helpful. The room is small but how much time do you spend in your room. If you are traveling on a budget this is a place I would consider.

Room Tip: Chose the room with the bathroom attached

“not recommendable”

How can they say that the breakfast is included in the price? We spent two nights in Domus Romana. The first evening, we had two small cakes in a polythene bags for the breakfast, the second evening, there was nothing. You have to share the kitchen with two other bedrooms.

The room is in the basement. A small window is available but there isn't any sunlight in the room and you always have to turn on the switch light. We didn't find the way to close the small window, and we heard outside noises from the street during all the night.
We didn't find the way to switch on the heater.

The towels were not changed the second evening. We had to dry ourselves with wet towels.
Don't manage to use the hair dryer, it is completely broken, sparks and burned smells come out of it when you plug it on.

The positive point is that you are in the city center.
It is cheap but does not worth 68 euros a night (for 2).
You can't pay by credit card.

“quite awful!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

I would not recommend staying at the Domus Romana B&B. It consists of two rooms in the basement of an apartment building in a not-so-great area (but relatively close to attractions) of Rome. The rooms are extremely dingy, and smell funny. There were dead flies on the bed, which was extremely uncomfortable. The floors were dirty, there were cracked tiles and exposed light switches in the bathroom, the walls were dirty and there was plaster missing from several areas in the wall. It is not well-maintained or well-cleaned! It was also alarming that the person who came to let us in could not remember how much the charge was for one night, and would not accept credit cards. He said he would text me with how much cash I should leave in the morning, but never did. Please do not stay here! It is cheap (53 Euros/night) but NOT WORTH IT!!!

“Very nice with a few surprises ;o)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

First of all, we had a very nice stay at Domus Romana B&B, and I would definitly recommend it to other.

But there is a few things I would like to have known prior to my arrival ;o)

- There is no sign on the building with the name Domus Romana, it looks like a normal appartment building, but we couldn't enter the building without a key, and didn't know which floot the B&B was on.

- You have to call Mauro, whose number you will receive with you booking, and who speaks perfectly good english, and he will come within 5 min to let you in. Tip: Call him a little before arrival ;o)

- The B&B is in the basement, which I didn't know, and was a little nervous about, because i instantly thought of a cold og moist room. This could not be farther from he truth, the rooms are light and very cosy.

Because we didn't know these things, our start was quite bumpy, but had I know this prior to my arrival, I would not have one negative thing to say about Domus Romana. Mauro was extremely helpfull, and even dropped us of at a fantastisk restaurant near by, so we could get something to eat.

I will definitly stay there next time we come to Rome :oD

“bad experience, creepy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

Booked it through Expedia.
We arrived in the afternoon and there was no one to answer the door. Luckily I had a cell phone and speak Italian (what if I didn't?) and called a number on the door: the guy said he is on his way in a taxi cab. Waited. After a while I get a sms saying "my uncle is coming to pick you up and take you to another place" !!! An old guy with a scary bit up car comes and wants to take us to "another b&b". I am a big guy and he was small and ld so I figured I can take a chance and went. Ended up just a few blocks away in some person's apartment with "b&b" taped on the bell button...we stayed, it was okay...BUT...
What if I didn't have a cell phone?
What if I didn't speak Italian?
What if the "uncle" was a "bad" person?
Never Again. This is not how you treat tourists.
