“Great location and very friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

We have stayed in this hotel in may 2011 for 3 days while we were travelling italy from Capri to Milan.

The Rooms are clean and adequate size. The hotel is very close to train station and it was very easy to get wherever we want with subway.

What is really great about the hotel was the service. The Staff really helped us to get the online tickets for Vatican Museum and really tried to do whatever they can for our inquiries. Also the breakfast which was included in our price was really good.

“Good location, rooms and breakfast but poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Location:
This hotel is situated in the city center, only a 5 minute walk from Bus & Train/Subway Station. If you are coming through flight, Terravision as well as other buses run every half an hour or so for all the airports from the station.
Rome is a beautiful city which is also very rich in historical monuments and attractions and almost every tourist attraction is at walkable distance from this hotel. We stayed there for 5 days and took Subway (Metro) just once while going to Vatican City, rest of the places like Colossium, Roman Forum, Trevi, Pentheon etc can be reached by walking.
The locality was very safe even at late night. We returned at 1am on two nights still felt very safe.

Hotel:
Room was of just sufficient size, and clean. There was a wardrobe with electronic safe. Bathroom was also average sized with basic toiletries.
The staff knew good english. Hotel's breakfast selection was one of the best and most vast I have ever seen. Cereals, toast, fruits, beverages, meat.. everything was there.
Air-Conditioning was perfect - although we visited Rome in the scorching heat of August, still the AC was sufficient to cool it down to a temp where you would feel the need of douvet.
Internet was very expensive (£4/hour) so we didnt use that.
But still I will rate the service as "poor" because we had a broken shower that would throw water in every direction while in use and would wet everyhing like floor, mirrors, clothes, toiletries, etc. We complained about it the very first morning, but it didnt get repaired for the next 4 DAYS!! Although they did something to reduced the breakage, but still it would squirt water in all directions and spoil the whole bathroom floor. That problem kind of kept ruining our experience for 5 days.

Nearby:
Because it is so close to City Center, there are lots of restaurants just 2 minute away from the Hotel (especially infront of the Train Station) and they serve delicious, fresh, authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Other services/shops close to the Hotel are: Bicycle, Scooter rentals, shops selling tourist guides/tickets, internet cafes, flea market etc.

Conclusion:
Excellent location, average sized rooms & bathroom, amazing breakfast and in case you don't face any problem like the one I have mentioned above, you will enjoy the stay!

“Service was excellent”

We were booked to stay in Augusta Lucilla for two nights at the end of our Italy trip. We chose the hotel as some friends were also staying there. Upon arrival at the front desk our reservation was for the following evening and night after, not for our first night. To make matters worse there were no rooms available to accommodate six of us. After some discussion and review, it became very obvious that I had made a mistake with the dates. Promptly the desk staff jumped into action and contacted nearby hotels and negotiated two rooms for us to stay in at the same rate. The porter also helped us move our luggage to a hotel 100 metres down the road. As our friends were staying there, we were also invited to have breakfast with them in the hotel despite now staying elsewhere. Unlike some of the recent reviews regarding poor service our first experience was excellent, in fact above the call of duty. Anyway we finally got to stay in the hotel for our second night. The triple rooms were small for three people. Our room was facing an internal stairwell. Not a good view but was much quieter then the rooms we had the kids in, as it was facing the street. There was an issue with the hot water in both rooms however it was resolved after an hour or so. Our flight was not until early evening so we asked for late check out (6PM) and for 40 Euro’s extra, one room was made available. There was also no request made to pay for the second night despite my booking error. The hotel is in a very convenient area. Close to the Termini and plenty of restaurants nearby. Not as luxurious as the other three hotels we stayed in Rome. The value for money was good and we found the service to be great especially in resolving my issue. A big thank you to the desk staff.

Room Tip: Internal facing rooms are quite.

“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

My family and I had 48 hours in Rome recently at the end of our trip to Sicily. We wanted a hotel that was near everything. My son is 14 years old and quite tall, so we needed a room with space enough for the 3 of us, too. We found both here. The location of the hotel is fantastic for sightseeing and access to the main rail station and metro. There were plenty of nice restaurant choices with a few blocks. Reading other reviews, it sounds like some of the hotel's rooms are quite small, but ours was huge. Very clean and well appointed; very nice bathroom. Bedding is quite nice. We found the front desk staff to be very helpful and friendly. I don't stay at hotels for their breakfast; we prefer to eat locally. But we did have breakfast there one morning and it was more than adequate. WiFi is not free, but a 2 hour prepaid card was 5 euro; not that bad if you have to 'connect'. Again, I don't choose my hotel based on their WiFi. I guess different people expect different things from a hotel. For my family, this place was perfect. I would highly recommend it.

“Nice hotel, corrupt and awful staff.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

This is a very nice hotel in a good location in Rome. I stayed here with my girlfriend for 2 nights in December 2009 (Late to review I know!). On our first night we had an accident with a candle that resulted in a small fire in our room. (I must point out that we have travelled all over the world and have never had anything like this happen before!) We accept full responsibility for this, and provided details of our travel insurance to cover the damage. The hotel staff however became extremely aggressive and demanded €1500, which I refused, again pointing to the travel insurance documents, copies of which I had provided. When I continued to refuse, the staff began to negotiate the price, reducing the bill to €1200!

This hotel has insurance to cover these situations, and will have had the room repaired through their insurance, and simply wanted to make me pay this cash in order to pocket it among themselves.

After this fire, which resulted in only minimal damage, my girlfriend and I were forced to stay in the same smoky room, which resulted in respiratory problems for my girlfriend, and for which we strongly considered legal action, especially in light of the fact that the hotel took the incident so seriously, yet failed to contact any emergency services to ensure that we were no longer in danger, or needed medical attention.

So, overall, a lovely hotel, nice decor, small rooms, great location but spoiled by corrupt and aggressive staff members.
