“Be very careful what you book!”

We too booked this b and b thinking it was the hotel's self catering annexe apartment. The photos really are very similar on some of the booking sites and the price was too. I realised the next day when i received the confirmation email. We'd paid up front to get the best
rate and although i practically begged them for refund, we're stuck with it. It was a weekend away to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary so was looking for at least a reasonable place to stay. I must admit it has spoiled things so we're actually not now looking forward to it, although rome is always lovely. So please be careful as once you've booked there's no way you can get the money back.

Good morning, following his release the following arguments.
She has never stayed with us.
No one has charged even one euro. I can prove it when he wants. Of course there is a mistake with others hotels or B&B.
I'm sorry for your bad experience, but we are not directly involved. I really hope there is clarity for our great passion and care we have towards our customers. Thanks

“THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL CAMPO DE FIORI - BE CAREFUL WHICH HOTEL YOU ARE BOOKING”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

Do not get this confused with The Hotel Campo de Fiori. That is a fancy boutique hotel and seemed very nice when I walked past.

This is the B&B Campo de Fiori, often advertised as the Townhouse Campo de Fiori. On Expedia I intended to purchase a room in the above hotel, not this B&B. Expedia had put the wrong photo on its website, or the B&B had used the wrong photo.

So you can understand my shock when I realised an error had been made and the lovely Hotel Campo de Fiori was not where I would be staying! The receptionist seemed accostomed to people asking if the hotel was where they were staying. She pointed to a nearby street.

The B&B is basically a large apartment in a very dirty building (graffiti on front door, rubbish in hallway, small antiquated elevator). The B&B itself is clean enough but the air-con was poor and the room albeit clean and nice, only worthy of 2 star hotel. The bathroom was clean, but the shower very small.

There is not 24hr service in this B&B. You will be greeted by a man but then he will leave and give you a key for the B&B and your room.

To give credit to the man who met us in the B&B, he showed me where I could park for free. There is a very small square around the corner where all the locals park and I saved myself quite a few Euros by parking here.

The location is also pretty good. The amazing Piazza Navona is just 5 mins walk away and to spend an evening there is quite something. Great food, street entertainers, artists and an amazing fountain.

However, at $150 USD a night you can do so much better. A bit overpriced this place and if I returned to Rome I would stay in a proper hotel.

“ABSOLUTELY THE WORST LODGING IN 9 VISITS TO ITALY!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

This was the worst choice I have every made in my 9 trips to Italy. The website and pictures are very deceiving. there was no airconditioning that worked, no room numbers to match the keys we were given, and no one available to hear our complaints. We tried to cancel but were told it could not be done my email. We were told by some other guests that they had the same problem and they suggested we go to the Hotel Campo deFiori for help. They were very nice and said that they are having a dispute with these people because they have A VERY SIMILAR NAME and that every week people e-mail them or show up thinking this is where they are staying. We could not have stayed here and felt safe. there was graffiti all over the place and after several hours the room was still hot, There was no smoke alarm!! we could not find the owners. If this were your first trip to Rome, you would never return. The website MUST be a picture of some other place!!!! surely not this hole!! They also now advertise as "Townhouse Campo deFiori" with even nicer pictures that don't match what you find when you arrive. thi is the only negative review I have ever given but felt I must warn others.

“Great location, accommodation overpriced, avoid breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

Booked into a superior double. Room a great size, bathroom a good size but accommodation very overpriced for what is simply a room. Reception isn't manned, very lucky that someone was there when we checked in. On the surface looked clean but floor very dusty as evidenced whenever anything was placed on it. Avoid breakfast, a lot of money for very little in a cafe around the corner from the B&B. Location is fantastic and would recommend the Trastevere area for dinner, 10 minute walk , very pretty and much cheaper than the Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Novana areas.

“Brilliant location and a good value find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2009

Campo de'fiori is the best location to stay in. I have been to Rome many times and I always look to stay around this area. Admittedly the hotel I wanted to stay in (Hotel Smeraldo/in Parione) was fully booked - a truly top tip! However the BB Campo de'fiori was of a similar price with a brilliant location.

For the money the hotel was good. The room rate for two people per night was 130 euros which is on the cheaper end for Rome.

What you need to be aware of is that Campo de'fiori is very popular at night and the locals drink in the square. Taking this into consideration I would say this place is ideal for the younger traveller who wants a really central location and doesn't mind the spirited noise from the local 'giovanni' on their way home from a night socialising. The hotel was clean and despite the staff not being there all the time they make sure they are there when you want them to be. I had to pay in cash up front btw as the credit card machine didn't work.

Breakfast is included in a local cafe not more than 20 metres away. The pastry is yummy as is the cappucino. It's a brilliant spot to people watch!
