“The best B&B !”

We stayed at the B&B for 3 nights. The room was clean and functional. We really had the feeling that we were at home. Paola took care of the airport transfers, we arrived very late but he was very friendly and gave us the information we needed. He also gave tips where to go out for dinner for good prices. We visited Rome on foot, the B&B is perfectly located to go on foot to the Vatican, as well as to the north and the old part of the town.We were given an extra set of keys so we could leave our luggage behind the reception desk instead of having to take it along with us the last day. Paolo gave us his phone number in case we had a problem, and answered every call immediately. Even though we saw him only once, he was a great host!

“Very pleasant stay - great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

It seems that a few of the people who reviewed this hotel were confused about what they were getting. It is a clean place, with air conditioning, free internet, and a nice bathroom. The location is perfect for walking almost anywhere in Rome, and the proprietor, Paolo, was eager to make phone calls on our behalf or help us plan things.

If you were planning to stay in a 5-star hotel, this isn't the same experience (and you shouldn't rate it on that scale). I also saw many comments about graffiti in the area... Rome is COVERED in graffiti. It's a sad truth, but it is nothing unique to this hotel's location. This was a good hotel experience for us!

“great place in the centre or Rome.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We liked it at the Townhouse. It seems however that the reviews are really polarized! I guess if people are expecting another place they will not see the positives. The room was big enough and clean, the host organised a transfer from Ciampino, the breakfast in the Campo was good, we were given two sets of keys to leave our bags the day we checked out. It was safe and there was no graffiti we could see.

We would certainly go back as it was comfortable and well placed. It would be a little difficult to find a similar place at that price in that location.

“Loved. It.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. Our room was large with a king bed. AC worked beautifully. The building was clean, inside and out. Wi-Fi is free.

Yes, the front desk is never manned (at least we never saw anyone while we there other than the woman who cleaned our room). We enjoyed this as it felt very a little more like home and they were just a phone call away if needed.

Yes, the shower in the bathroom is tiny and there isn't a bathtub. Honestly though, we were too busy to notice... jump in, get clean, get out and go explore this fantastic city :)

Yep, the elevator is also tiny. The only time this was an issue was when our greeter, my girlfriend, me, and all of our luggage tried to fit in it when we arrived for check-in. Otherwise, we had it completely to ourselves every other time we used it.

The cafe around the corner where you get breakfast was wonderful! The breakfast is simple: juice, coffee, and a pastry, but it was honestly the best cappuccino I've ever had. The service was fantastic every time.

Yes, there is graffiti on the walls of the buildings on this street, but the front of the hotel was clean and there was no graffiti on the door. Graffiti seems to be a fairly common thing in Rome, regardless of location. Never once did her and I feel unsafe, and we were coming and going at ALL hours...

All-in-all, this probably isn't the place for everyone. If you're independent, don't care to be doted on, and have a good sense for adventure, this is the place for you.

“The location was great and the manager Paolo helped us a lot.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

This location really is hard to beat - right down the street from Campo de' Fiori. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area and the little coffee shop is about a 100 meters away from the B&B where you get your free breakfast. The owner of the coffee shop sings sometimes (actually yodels), and he's a funny guy. The taxi driver we took from the B&B to the airport is named Massimo (I think) and he runs the taxi service - he took at least 20 phone calls when we were on our way and was dispatching other cabs and effectively running his business form his cab, WHILE driving the cab. If I was not half Italian, it would have freaked me out as he was holding 2 cell phones and the steering wheel while driving. It's Italy at its best. The room was clean and to cover the noise from the party maniacs in the plaza, we simply ran the air conditioner at night to provide background noise and we had no problem sleeping once we started using this technique. It seems like EVERYONE in Rome smokes like a chimney, but our room had no odor of smoke so we were happy with that. We began taking pictures of cigarette butts in the cobblestones as a reminder about how pathetically addicted the Europeans are to tobacco. Sad, but we learned to hold our breath when walking about Rome and position ourselves inside restaurants to avoid the smoke that is synonymous with outdoor Rome. Also, we did not see more than 5 people that ever looked like they worked out in their lives in Rome, but amazingly, there was a gym about 200 yards away from the B&B that allows 1 day workout passes to be purchased - a first for Rome I think, and the gym was well stocked with great weights and life cycles, etc. Overall, another great Italy trip, we had to wash all our clothes to get the cigarette smoke out once we returned though. We hope that things change in Europe and people start taking better care of their bodies so they can enjoy the best food on the planet.
