“Yucky!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

To begin with when we got there it was closed! For a while we waited and then found the mobile phone number of the owner. We texted him and he was able to get there quite quickly (Thanks God!). But we were happy only for a moment... uhtill we saw our room. It was really really yucky! It wasn't cleaned after the last visitors. The owner told us to give him 15 minutes to get it cleaned. Ok, we waited. All he did was take the bed linen and bring new one. That's it! The floor was dirty, the curtains on the windows were dirty and the furniture was all dusty... Oh, and on the website it says that the breakfast is included - well, if you consider a pack of old crackers a breakfast then yeah, it is included!

What's more, bathroom door didn't have a lock! And this is a bathroom for a couple of rooms!!! Disgusting!

But that's not all! We had big problems with a lock on our room door. First of all, it took us a lot of time to lock it, but then it took us even more time to open it! Honestly, we were not able to do it ourselves, so everytime we had to ask for help (because non of the hostel staff was ever around, we had to ask the guys from other rooms).
Hm, what else??.. well, the location is aslo far from being ideal.. You have to take subway to get to downtown...
It's a good thing that we stayed here for a short period of time and that it was so cheap. Otherwise, I would've changed it!
Honestly, if you plan to go to Rome, DO NOT stay in this hostel!!! There are plenty of hostels in Rome and I'm sure you can find a better one for approximately the same price. I stayed in another hostel in Rome and I can say that it was much much better!!!

“Brilliant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

An utterly fantastic host! I made a mistake and booked the hostel for the wrong nights - not only did our host find us another hostel for practically the same price within seconds, but he drove us down there, and brought us back to his hostel the next morning when a room became free - for absolutely nothing!

Great location, a two minute walk from the tube station, rooms were clean and spacious. Only a 10-15 minute journey to the centre, and much nicer than staying right in the centre of it all where it is hot and busy. Brilliant hostel, FANTASTIC and helpful owner.

“Definately good value for money”

Bearing in mind that this is a self-service B&B - it is perfect ! The apartment is somewhat rundown but charmingly Roman and adequate. Owner very friendly and serviceminded (airport transfer 30 EUR even at 4 AM). Romans aren't great breakfasters - you are brought a fresh croissant in the morning and can avail yourself to a coffea-machine and instant. Plus various per-packed cakes. Do not expect cleaning during your stay and take the trash out yourself. Bathrooms, hot water, heating all ok. Beds are very good. Close to metro and shops etc. This is the Roman way - at the price it is very very much ok, unless you are expecting Hilton standard. Will return when next in Rome.

“Worst Hotel I've ever stayed in...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2009

Booked this thinking the location and price were pretty good so how bad could it be. Boy was that a mistake!!!

Room was dingy, didn't look like it had been cleaned for months, bedlinen was worse than you'd get in prison, towel smelled unclean and only one was supplied for both of us. Shared bathroom(s) had one working toilet and were terrible: dirty and in a poor state of repair. Breakfast was non-existent which, given the state of everything else, probably saved us from food poisoning!!

The "Hotel" is basically a converted apartment with each room being used as a bedroom. You can hear everything that everyone else is getting up to. One night we heard people arriving in the early hours and found one of them sleeping in the corridor on an air mattress the next morning!!

Could only pay for the room in cash so had to go to an ATM to get the money to pay for it.

Only plus side was it encouraged us to get up early and stay out all day to ensure as little time as possible was spent in the room!

Avoid at all costs!!

“The dirtiest place I have ever stayed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2009

I couldn't believe that our room wasn't cleaned when we entered in for the first time.
There were two plastic cups, some paper, a berry of grape and so much dust on the floor. The sheets looked like somebody else had used them before. I aksed the owner what the breakfast would be and he showed me two packed croissants put next to the bed in a plate
and said: coffee and a croissant. When he went out I looked the croissants and saw that one was already opened and eaten by somebody else. I called the owner and told him about this and also asked him to send a person to clean the room. No body cleaned the room, only the croissants were changed with others.
The bathrooms were terrible, dirty, with hair in the bath tub, which didn't let the water to go in so it caused problems all the time.
There wasn't a kitchen but just a dirty table covered with coffee and remains of food.
I think that the owner is trying to make money without do anything ! This hostel is a the most disgusting place I have ever seen. It is a shame !
