“B&C not B&B!”

First things first. This is cheap accomodation for central Rome, and we definately did not expect much for the price. However, we were a little disappointed with it.

The good : The staff were very pleasant and very helpful, although we only saw one persone when we checked in. The location is perfect! The metro station was a two minute walk down the street, which was connected to the main lines for all the major attractions. we bought a 3 day unlimited ticket for the metro for our stay of 3 nights. This was a really good deal for about 10 Euros, as we used it alot!
The bad: well as i say i cant complain much for the price! butttt...
the beds were hard and the pillows were hard! We didn't get a very good night sleep each night
the room was extremely basic, it felt very out dated, but the decor is not a bother if you are only there to sleep. which we were.
the bathrooms were quite bad, the showers did not work very well, the shower doors were falling off and it was unfortunately not 100% clean
there was no air con!! And in july the heat was extreme and hard to deal with at night time.
last of all the breakfast! Oh this makes me laugh.. we were handed a breakfast voucher for each of us for each morning of our trip, and told where we could find the breakfast in the morning. We found the small cafe just next to the outside door of the B&B, and we were soo disappointed to find out that our option of breakfast was A SINGLE croissant and a drink. and theywere small croissants at that! This was amusing and laughable that they can call this a B&B, hence the title, BED AND CROISSANT :)

If you are their to sleep after a long day sightseeing, its fine. expect the worst and you might be impressed.

Room Tip: You should be able bodied to get up to the rooms. Old marble stairs in the building are warped and w...

“Clean, Great Central Location And Friendly Host”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

I stayed at Blackberry House in Sept and found it a pleasant stay. The host, Barbara was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned every morning as well as the living area and bathrooms.

Located just 10mins walk away from the Colosseum and 5 from the nearest underground station, getting around Rome is not a problem.

Would recommend Blackberry House if on a tighter budget and looking for a clean B&B in the centre of Rome

“Pay peanuts. Get a very reasonable place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010 via mobile

Negatives. Shared bathing facilities, noisey and the bathroom was a bit grubby at times! The owner is very nice, for the money it was fine we would probably go to somewhere a bit nicer but if your on a tight budget it's very good I guess! If you can afford a bit nicer I would probably do that but this ticks the basic boxes and very close to the tube which gets you around!

“Great location, nice rooms, and the breakfast is fine!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

We had a great time here, it's the perfect location for doing Rome - it's right next to a tube stop, or you can walk to to the Colosseum. Make sure the first time you venture into old Rome, you must walk it as seeing the Colosseum looming in the distance as you get near is a sight to see.

I have read reviews about this hotel that slate the breakfast, but I disagree - it's fine if you're into cereal and average criossants.

It's very clean and the rooms are spacious. What more could you ask for?

“You Get What You Pay For”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Stayed at Blackberry House for 4 nights. Like all the other guests have commented, breakfast is pretty bad: either packaged bread with some kind of syrup inside or chocolate pastries. Definitely not healthy for you to eat everyday. But there's different flavors of coffee and tea at the common area. Owner Barbara meets you when you check-in, and gives you some info about where to go and which bus to take. Bathroom is indeed clean, although it depends really on the hygiene routines of other guests. Bathtub is a bit small and narrow but there is a bidet. You will be given your own set of keys, but they're the traditional kind (a bit dodgy), so make sure you also lock your valuables before you head out. Location is central, about a minute walk from metro station Manzoni and 10 minute walk to the Colosseo. I am also a light sleeper so every time other guests come back late or there's a dog howling (because this B&B is within a compound of apartments), I wake up, so sleep has been interrupted. Overall, you get what you pay for: 60EUR a night in Rome with decent rooms and a central location is quite hard to find.
