“No front door key!”

Air conditioning worked but didn't sound very healthy. Shower head broken and water did not run down drain properly. Balcony nice and nice to get breakfast in bed - but very basic. Room not that clean - scuffed walls etc and hard bed. Great location for station and Domus Aurea, Colliseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. Friendly staff (but with poor English). Bed hard. Expensive for what it was but cheap for Rome I guess! Have to ring a doorbell to get in the front door (24 hours) - v annoying.

“Positive experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Stayed with my wife & 2yr old. Staff very freindly and helpful, always out to please guests. Location was great near all major sites, breakfast was brought to the room by freindly cafe staff. This hotel is in a new location around the corner from old site, rooms are new with all the creature comforts from home. Would recommend good value for money.

“Very friendly, accommodating hosts, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The room was simple but had everything we needed, including wifi. The people running it were very nice and helpful. They brought our breakfast to the room and we had our coffees and croissants on the little balcony that came with the room. The hotel is very close to the Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore and on walking distance from the Colloseo, Forum Romanum and the main tourist attractions.

“Quite good if you dont expect too much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

We stayed in hotel for two night. Hotel was clean and safe. Only the beds were very hard, and the room was next to reception, so i heard everybody. Breakfast was in the price and good. If you dont expect too much so it is cheap option to stay in Rome.

“Portofortuna Prison”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

My husband and I stayed here with our teenage daughter. The only good thing to say about this hotel is that location is excellent. Close to the Termini station and the stunning Santa Maria Maggiore. Rome is compact so it was within easy walking distance of all the major sites. However, the hotel itself is very basic. No front door key you have to ring a bell to get in and out. Beds were very very hard to the point of being uncomfortable. The room overlooked the main road but the window shutters did not close making it very noisy all night long. We anticipated getting our breakfast in a courtyard room instead rather like prisoners we were handed a tray at the door each morning. In the absence of any table we then had to sit on our beds and eat a very basic a breakfast .Apart from location would definitely not recommend this hotel.
