“Most friently receptionist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Ok, I did not stay here, but the staff are soo friendly. I stayed at the B&B below this place (in the same building that did not have a reception office). This people have taken me in and kept me in company until I waited for my room keys to arrive (since I arrived late to my B&B and they have left to return home).

I forgotten the name of the person who was at the reception at night, Georgia or something. He is one of the nicest English speaking Italian I have met thought out my Italy trip. Just because of his hospitality, I would book this place for my next trip. Plus, from the outside it looks very modern. And that receptionist told me how wonderful the rooms were.

I understand that that reception is only on a temporary role. The boss of AT Residence should really consider making him full time. He is just so genuine.

Yes, there are a lot of stairs to claim, but it is at the heart of Rome. You can practically walk to the Colosseum (about 20 mins walk if you know the directions)... and about 15 mins walk to Trevi Fountain... and it is just a few steps away from the train station..

I know that I didnt stay here, but I saw guess living that that where very happy and were warmly welcomed by the receptionist (I stayed in the same building from 2/Dec to 5 Dec).

I would be bold to recommend this place to young travellers who wants to stay at the heart of Rome.

Room Tip: Dont bring heavy luggage.

“Great place....if you're a mountain goat....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Here's the good news - the rooms are modern, clean and reasonably spacious and the staff are friendly and accomodating, even the ones that don't speak much English. Great location , too.
Here's the bad news - yes, it's over 100 steps to your room - manageable without luggage but a real nightmare with. To the credit of the staff, they did volunteer to help me lug my suitcase up the stairs and when I checked out a very helpful gentleman carried it down for me. The great location can have a downside if you are a light sleeper - the street noise is considerable, especially if you are facing Piazza Barberiini.

“GREAT location, Huge room - must walk ~7 flights with luggage.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We arrived at the Residence AT, and our Suite was ready right away. I didn't realize we had paid for a suite, but perhaps we were upgraded!

We brought our luggage up ~7 flights, and then another flight to our landing, and another full flight up to our bedroom/bathroom. So 9 flights at the end of the day is a serious concern if you aren't comfortable with that type of exertion. There is no option for an elevator.

The location is great, right next to the Barberini stop on Metro line A, with LOTS of buses coming right through at that stop. Also, because it's within the Aurelian walls, it's 40 Euros set rate to the FCO airport, which is good to know if you'd prefer not to lug your luggage on the metro.

The room was huge, a little dark, but always super clean. The pillows were approximately an inch thick, so we slept with sweatshirts underneath them to save our necks. There are zero english channels, so plan to not watch that at night time. Or bring a portable dvd player with you.

Breakfast was good - and set-us on the right track for the day.

Overall, a good stop!

“So close to Trevi Fountain!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This was a great little place to stay...location, location, location! The Trevi Fountain was just a couple of blocks away, so we walked there every night after we were done with our day! Beware - there is no elevator - but the rooms were very clean and the staff was very nice. I would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: We had a great view of the fountain in the square below!

“My least favorite stay out of our 16 night trip to Europe”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

My husband and I traveled throughout Europe in September 2011. This was our last stop and we stayed in Rome at the Residence AT for 3 nights. The location was ok...it is close to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and a 20 minute walk to most other sites in Rome. However, there was no elevator and the stair case was long and hot. There was no assistance offered to help with our bags and of the four people we met who worked at the hotel only two spoke English. They were not helpful in securing a cab to the airport or suggesting a much more reasonable shuttle we later found and used to get to the airport. They offered no suggestions for good restaurants. The breakfast was average, but most are in Europe.

During the day when they cleaned our room they turned off the air conditioner, leaving our room hot and stuffy when we returned after a long day of hiking in 90-degree heat through Rome. I would not recommend the Residence AT and I would not stay here again. There are many other hotels in the same location that all looked better than this one.

Next time I am in Rome I would choose to stay in the Travestere area or closer to the river.
