We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and the pool area was very agreeable. Having a pool at your disposal after visiting the excavations is priceless. Breakfast was basic but sufficient, and we ate very well in the restaurant, for a reasonable price (tip: ask for the menu with the days' specials!)
We stayed here for more than a week, and we found it an ideal starting point for train trips in the area (train station is only a 100m away - as a consequence, you hear the trains passing by sometimes ...). Because it is so close to the excavation entrance, it is also very convenient to visit the archeological site whenever it suits you so you can avoid the big groups of tourists (e.g. very early in the morning or late in the evening) - you just have to step outside of the hotel.
One minor point is that the hotel is quite far from the city centre (a 15 min walk that is not very agreeable) and that it is very quiet at night, so if you want to stay for a long time it might become somewhat boring (I wouldn't go there with your teenagers).
In short, this hotel is an ideal starting point to visit the excavations and the nearby towns.
