This is another 5 star review - I've done several of these, but it's because I do a lot of research before making reservations, and the resulting choices have NOT disappointed us.
When we walked into La Bouganville, Guiliano went into action, getting us positioned in our rooms and then telling us that he would drive us to the best local pizzeria but we had to leave NOW as the lines would be too long if we waited. So he made two trips to take the 6 of us down the street to La Notizia, where we had what was indeed our best Naples pizza.
We had two rooms, each of which had their own bathroom across the hall from the rooms, and next to the kitchen. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. We were several days into a 5 week trip, and had lots of laundry to do; Guiliano got our laundry into both of his machines, so with his help we were able to have clean, dry laundry by morning (we had to hang some of it to dry as the European dryers don't seem to work as quickly or hold as much as what we're used to).
Breakfast was good and wonderfully presented. Funny story: my kids (ages 12 - 20) love milk and when Guliano asked what they wanted to drink, they said "milk" unanimously -- knowing that milk is not a common drink for anyone other than little children in Italy, still they didn't expect to be served hot milk at breakfast! We still laugh about that, and it was a good lesson in cultural expectations.
I can't think of any bad things about our stay at La Bouganville: the beds, the bathrooms, the breakfast, the terrace, the location ... were all excellent. Guiliano is clearly a wonderful host, and anticipated all of our needs. When we were ready to leave, he took pity on us for the heavy backpacks we were carrying, and offered to drive 2 of us with all our luggage down to the Mergellina train station while the rest of us walked to the funicolare station -- a much appreciated gesture. If we're ever in Naples again, we would return in a heartbeat.
Directions: when we arrived in Naples by train from Rome, we took the local train to Mergellina, then began the search for the funicolare -- this was the most difficult part of our journey the first time, but after we found it, it was easy on subsequent trips. Basically, you walk out the front of the Mergellina station, take a right and walk down the street for about 3 long blocks until you see what looks like a small train station on the right. You will take the funicolare all the way to the top, then exit the station, take a left, and walk several blocks until you reach the B&B, which you will recognize from a small sign that points to a side-entrance (it's located inside a larger building) .
Room Tip: There's one room with an ensuite bathroom, if that's important to you.
