We arrived at this hotel after a long drive from Rome to Naples. We were disappointed with Naples anyway on arrival because there isn't much to do at the city,it was very littered, scruffy looking and unsafe.
We arrived at the hotel and went inside to see what it was like before deciding if we should stay in Naples or go to another city along the Italian Riviera. Firstly, this is not actually a hotel but an aparmtent with block with other residential apartments in it. Obviously the owner has decided to rent out the bedrooms in his apartment and call it a B&B so already it was deceiving and nt what it was supposed to be.
We went inside to find no lift and a sign saying it was on ther first floor. We went up to the first floor and knocked on the door with the sign for the hotel on and a man greeted us and said to follow him to our room.
We then walked up TWELVE FLIGHTS of stairs to the sixth - and top - floor. Believe me when we got to the top my husband and I could barely breathe and our calves felt sore and achy! We followed the man into another apartment where, once in the hall inside, he got a key from a drawer and opened a bedroom door to reveal a dark, old fashioned, dirty looking room. My husband and I did not even bother going inside the room - just tod the man we wanted to cancel and left.
He kept trying to make us stay the whole way down the stairs again - saying he could offer us another room and why didn't we like it. We told him it was not a proper hotel it was apartments which was deceving. The room looked very old fashioned, dirty and the sheets on the bed were fraying and it smelt musty. It did not look like the rooms in the pictures on the internet WHATSOEVER- in fact I would not be surprised if it turned out they had simple cut those photos from a magazine it was so different!
Also, our legs were feeling like jelly from the walk up to the top floor. We are not unfit but the amount of stairs to climb with no lift was ridiculous. Had we decided to stay we would not have been able to get our suitcases up and down them without help from someone else and even once we were there going out of the hotel and coming back would have been very hard faced with all them steps every time we wanted to leave.
We got in our car and drove to Sorrento, a beautiful town on the coast about a mile south of Naples. It was pretty, picturesque, clean, had plenty to do and lots of beach for relaxing.
I would recommend anybody thinking of going to Naples to skip there as it is not a nice city and this hotel is certainly not a nice hotel!
