During the planning of our trip to Naples and the Amalfi coast, I spent a considerable amount of time researching hotels in Naples. The Palazzo Alabardieri seemed perfect on so many levels that I was excited that there were still rooms available so I happily made the reservation. When our taxi pulled up to the entrance I felt that my research had really paid off. The entry way to the hotel seemed very charming and discreet. This looked like it was going to be a gem of hotel. This was the very first day of our 14 day vacation and our spirits were high as we walked up to the front desk. Unfortunately, those good feelings were quickly dashed when the front desk told us that they did not have a room for us. Yes, they acknowledged we had a confirmation number but it didn't matter. They still did not have a room for us.
We never were given a good reason why they didn't have a room. They just didn't have a room. They did have another hotel lined up for us and they did pay for the taxi ride to the hotel. However, the hotel they sent us to had none of the charm that we thought we were getting. The front desk at the new hotel was very helpful and the rooms were spacious but still we were so disappointed. We eventually got over it but it really was a drag that Palazzo Alabardieri did not honor our reservation. What good is a confirmation number if it is not honored.
So consequently, I can't really rate the hotel since we weren't able to stay there.
