“Who knows? They didn't have a room for us.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

During the planning of our trip to Naples and the Amalfi coast, I spent a considerable amount of time researching hotels in Naples. The Palazzo Alabardieri seemed perfect on so many levels that I was excited that there were still rooms available so I happily made the reservation. When our taxi pulled up to the entrance I felt that my research had really paid off. The entry way to the hotel seemed very charming and discreet. This looked like it was going to be a gem of hotel. This was the very first day of our 14 day vacation and our spirits were high as we walked up to the front desk. Unfortunately, those good feelings were quickly dashed when the front desk told us that they did not have a room for us. Yes, they acknowledged we had a confirmation number but it didn't matter. They still did not have a room for us.

We never were given a good reason why they didn't have a room. They just didn't have a room. They did have another hotel lined up for us and they did pay for the taxi ride to the hotel. However, the hotel they sent us to had none of the charm that we thought we were getting. The front desk at the new hotel was very helpful and the rooms were spacious but still we were so disappointed. We eventually got over it but it really was a drag that Palazzo Alabardieri did not honor our reservation. What good is a confirmation number if it is not honored.
So consequently, I can't really rate the hotel since we weren't able to stay there.

We read your review with the extreme displeasure as we always try to do our best in order to satisfy the expectations of those who choose to book our Hotel.

The regret in this case is double since you have expressed appreciation for our Hotel lobby. We realize that to be housed in a Hotel different from that which has been carefully chosen is not a nice experience, but please be assured that it has occurred because it was a case of extreme necessity. It has been our care, however, to make a re-routing in line with national guidelines, reserving for you a room in a hotel of the same category and in the same area and paying the costs of the transfer. We also asked the hotel to give you one of their best rooms, just to make the incident less bitter.

Confident that you will accept our apologies for what happened we hope to have you soon among our guests, it will be our pleasure to provide further explanation for what happened, perhaps in front of a coffee or an aperitif at our Bar Amazon.

“Nice stay in Naples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

Nice 4-star hotel in a good neighborhood of Naples. Close to the water, tourist sites, shopping, and restaurants. Good room size and furnishings, upscale bathroom, Sky TV with english language TV channels, free wired internet access in the room and wireless access in the public spaces, good breakfast in the dining room, good value for the money paid.

“Great location - comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

We stayed in Naples for 3 nights (3 for the price of two in August!) and had a comfortable stay. The bar and restaurant were closed hence i think the offer of a freebie night! Breakfast was plentiful and nice to have the option of scrambled egg and bacon. The reception desk helped us to book taxis and we chose to book a taxi with a driver to see Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast - expensive but very worthwile when our time was short. Our room was a suite and had a huge bathroom - with a jacuzzi bath which impressed my 9 year old daughter! It was plenty big enough for the double bed settee and large double bed. The 11 year old was impressed to be able to get The Simpsons in english on Sky! You could easily walk to the harbour (where we caught the hydrofoil to Capri) and nice restaurants. We didn't shop but we were surrounded by Designer boutiques! A great location for Naples.

“Very nice hotel and best location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

Staying at the Palazzo Alabardieri is probably the reason i loved Napoli. Walking ditance from the port where we could take the boats to the islands. Walking distance to restaurants(by the sea) and also shopping, etc. This hotel is located in the Ste-Lucia district. We felt more secured in this area. The hotel is very nice and clean.

“Very Nice Hotel - Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

I stayed at the Palazzo Alabardieri for business. It is a wonderful little oasis in the middle of the all the activity of Naples. The lobby is quaint and the service is friendly and professional and speak English well. The rooms are nicely appointed, although not overly done. They are clean and the decor is very tasteful and you have free internet. One point of contention in almost all Italian hotels is no irons are available, so pack wrinkle-free!

The location is outstanding as you are on a little alleyway adjacent to all the main pedestrian and shopping areas. As well, there is a myriad of restaurants and cafes in all directions. You are always a few streets from the water.

Overall a great little hotel that is not too expensive and will meet all your needs. You are roughly 30 minutes to the Naples Airport and it is advised to take a taxi due to the tight streets and virtually impossible navigation.
