“Good option for a budget holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

If your stay in hotel is just for those hours when one needs 8 hours of sleep then this is the best bargain in Naples. The hotel is at 10 minutes walking distance from the main train station. Even the bus-stop is very close to the hotel.

The breakfast in the hotel was decent. Dinning area was clean. Hotel has paid internet service [wi-fi and even a standby-pc]. The rooms were decent.

For what we paid, the service offered was reasonable.

“Mamma r'o Carmine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

I think one fact sums up the experience. I opened the folder! in my room to see if it contained an envelope. No. It did have a questionaire completed by a guest in March 2009!

Some indication of the whereabout of the entrance (screened like all ground floor windows with thick net curtains) and how to find the buzzer to open it would have saved me trudging round the block with my luggage to find it.

Staff OK but seemingly without any sense of humour or enthusiasm for their guests.

I wouldn't exactly recommend it but it could have been worse!

OK the area is not the best but I knew that and being 'locked in' was sort of reassuring.

“Not too bad for the area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. While Napoli is not great, we felt safe in this hotel. Parking, if needed, is provided (for a cost) by a family who owns a fenced-in-lot next door. They were also nice. Breakfast was not large but adequate and average for Italy.

“Never Again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2009

Hotel is situated in a very dodgy part of Naples - didn't feel safe in the evening and didn't feel safe at 10am. Yes, it is close to train station or buses if you want to go sightseeing but the stress is not worth it. As for the interior, for this price you couldn't expect more. Apart from the view perhaps - we could only see dirty, redish wall of the building next door.
Not all the stuff speaks English and those who can aren't nice - that includes guys at the reception desk. They are replying, don't get me wrong but the way they are doing it leaves nasty after taste. You almost got a feeling that you disturbing them when clearly they are there for you.
I actually believe they don't like their guests - one of the guys receommend us a restaurant:we were served by drunk waiter who was throwing cutlery on the table, spoiled red wine while pouring without noticing or saying 'sorry' and at the end forgot to serve our coffee and kept us waiting 20 minutes for nothing. At the end he charged 5EUR for the service.
Food served for breakfast is very simple: cheese, cold cuts (perhaps 2-3 types to choose from), cold frankfurters. No fresh vegetables, no hot chocolate and no juice - the colorful liquid doesn't deserve to be called juice, toxic drink if anything. But the most surprising thing is lack of hot food! Even during hot days hot food is improtant, especially if you planning walking all day. Also beware of one of the waiters - he didn't speak any English but he had his own idea of where guests should seat - even if there was noone else having meal at the time he would chase people to the tables he wanted them to seat at - not nice.
Rooms are generally clean but in our one prevoius guests left some stuff behind in the drawers and noone noticed that before we arrived. Safe didn't work - and you don't need that in Italy!
Bathrooms are bit too small - we had to be very carefull not to smash our heads while sitting on the toilet or elbows while having a shower.
No internet, unless you are prepared to use old PC in the reception, using very slow connection.
Come on guys! It is the XXI century!

I think that's it.
Overall - not impressed. But Naples is a beautiful city and after seeing Pompei and Herculaneum we can tick the trip as good.
Can't say the same about the hotel.

“I shouldn't have trusted trip advisor on this one”

The rating was 4 stars, but I would have to disagree with that. We had to book this hotel after missing our cruise ship due to plane maintenance issues. The hotel is in the ghetto! I did not feel safe walking outside at night. Just a hundred feet up the road there was a 40ft x 30ft x head high pile of garbage. Naples was dirty, but this neighborhood was filthy. Looking out our window, people were disposing of garbage off their balconies. Not safe at all. The windows were really thin, so you could hear sirens and traffic all night. Also, no AC. The room had a horrible mildew stench when we arrived. The maid realized how bad it smelled and attempted to cover it after our first day in the room. Thank God noses block out bad odor after a while. We slept without the bedding because it was probably the cheapest bedcover we had ever seen. It felt dirty as well. We didn't need it with how hot the room was anyway. The front desk personnel were friendly, but we had to wait many times to get any service, as there was usually only one person around. The breakfast was ok. Even at 75 euro a night, I felt that I overpaid. For my experience, I felt it was only worth 30 euro. GROSS!
